Why is he no longer in our academy?

Apparently he thought the Academy staff were always mucking around and acting unprofessional

Absolute powerhouse club down here mate. Unbelievable win 7 in a row (would've been 9 if not for COVID). All home grown talent from a small town. Played footy against Finns Brothers who are quite good players as well.

I watched Finn last year in a game against Warrnambool as a 16 year old and dominated. The only kid I've seen dominate like that down here was Hugh McLuggage.

What a spot to be in to either get Langford who was the most consistent top end player this season. Or O'Sullivan whose been the clubhouse leader for pick 1 for the majority of the last 18 months.

He played well but not what I would call dominated. I am sure Chris McLaren would agree. All home grown talent - really ????? Small country town yes - but really just down the road from Warrnambool

He probably just aged out because I think the 'academy' he is referring to is some of the development programs we have with the local junior leagues rather than our actual NGA program.

We also claimed Sheezel and Wardlaw came through our academy when it was just them participating in those programs.

Callahgan is very simmialr to Landgford

Callaghan is probably better on the outside than Langford. He seems a bit quicker and has played some genuine wing. I love Langford but think he's probably mostly an inside mid who could drift forward. Callaghan is a genuinely adaptable player.

Is Warrnambool a foreign nation?

If we got Callaghan and LDU or one of them
Which draftees would suit our team the best?

LDU is a dynamic inside mid. Callaghan an adaptable inside/outside mid/wingman. If Phillipou continues and we have Macrae and Steele still playing we are going to struggle to fit pure inside mids in. Probably makes dual position players more useful. Probably allows us to draft a replacement for Sinclair too.

Was wondering if any of the potential top draftees are Saints supporters, according to this only Shanahan due to grandpa.

From the article, Taj Hotton talking about his brother...

“Oli actually went for St Kilda when he was really young, but then he changed to Collingwood because of his mates. It wasn’t anything to do with dad, he’s a bit of a traitor. But full circle, he ended up getting drafted by the Saints.”

And this from Smilie...

“Mum and Dad had a rule: First born is a St Kilda supporter with mum – and so my older sister is a St Kilda fan – and dad and I are Essendon,” he told foxfooty.com.au.

“I loved watching Dyson Heppell. He was my favourite player; I wanted his dreads and hair like him." 😬

One if the reasons I got into the Saints originally was Spida Everitt having those long dreadies, but that was the mid-nineties, not over fifteeen years into the 21st century ffs

Can't help but think this talk of Richmond definitely taking Smilie at 6 is because they assume FOS will already be taken by then. If we get to pick 6 with FOS and Smilie still available, in my opinion the Tiges take FOS, leaving us with Smilie.
It’s truly hard to see Melbourne passing on FOS.

There biggest need is a forward half connector with skills and ability to have a big impact from limited touches.

Hence the recruitment of Billings.

FOS fits their needs with the scope to be best in class and become a fully fledged mid in a few years.
