Am I missing something with North, are their mids really that stacked?

LDU and Wardlaw, 100% centre square specialists.

Sheezel can play anywhere.

McKercher is still unproven.

Thomas is gone.

I don't see why they'd have any issue grabbing another mid, especially a balanced one. Probably don't need another clearance beast unless LDU is gone.
McKercher is a jet. They still have Powell, Simpkin, even Philips should be getting some time if they’re going to see what he has.

If we were to trade 8, what two picks could we get in return?
Worth looking at the clubs immediately after us. Melbourne can't and won't unless they're truly, truly desperate for someone, they'd offer a deal akin to GWS last year, one pick slide for future 2nd or 3rd.

Best hope is Richmond really wants someone, they could offer up 10 and 18/20/23

West Coast probably won't and wouldn't be worthwhile anyway - unless they decide to suffer a similar madness to last year and offer up their future first

Port and Freo similarly aren't worth it for us, too great a slide for too little back

Other main hope is GWS with 15 and 16, we've got a good trading relationship, might involve a little further jockeying about involving our 32/future 2nd and their 21/37 depending on desperation.

I think Travaglia will thrive in the right AFL environment, kid can run all day and a great kick which RTB would love and I think his reading of the play is outstanding. Not seen much talked about him on here maybe due to the want for pure mids, but i would not be upset if we picked him at 8.

Yep, completely undersold. Could be bleak in here on Wednesday.

Can we risk Reid going 9 and being a star? To Melbourne of all teams? I feel like we might be best getting him and trading a f1 for whatever pick we can and getting a tall later.

Insert Allan,Travaglia,Lindsay,Trainor etc here for the same sentence to be true

What???
He is one of the best young players in the league

Who do you think goes at 8,9,10,11 Mike?
Good question…there’s a good chance within that bracket all of Ashcroft, Lombard and Kako are bid on!
In the mix will be Smillie, Allan, Travaglia, Lindsay…a lot will depend on whether Tauru is taken early by North but I’ll have a crack:

1 Sam Lalor- Richmond
2 Alix Tauru- North
3 Levi Ashcroft- Brisbane
4 Finn O’Sullivan- Carlton
5 Sid Draper- Adelaide
6 Harvey Langford- Melbourne
7 Leonardo Lombard- Gold Coast
8 Jagga Smith- Richmond
9 Josh Smillie- St Kilda
10 Isaac Kako- Essendon
11 Toby Tavaglia- St Kilda

Tough one hey. Sounds like Toce was more keen on Langford than Smillie, aligned with Cal starting to put him in the top 3 mids convo.

Now Hartley is in charge and his Park Orchards sunnies can't see anything but Smillie....
Yeah I’ve been thinking lately Langford would be the Toce choice and why Hartley would side with Smillie - which is why I don’t believe it’s a red herring. I think it’s Smillie at 6.

The big swing at that potential also makes sense from the tigers point of view.
Nah, think there has been strong rumours that Melbourne were equally keen on Reid.. wouldn't surprise if they kept going midfield if they picked him.
I meant that you could insert any name we don’t take at 8 potentially being a star. Not that Melbourne would take any.

Most phantoms have him being selected by us at pick 8. Not sure how we rate him but he seems to be at about that range.

another reason i hope we split 8,no worse than the giants 15/16,so many very good players after our pick 7,lets have 2 or even 3 more

more pieces in place for when tassie ties up the draft/s,for when zorko and neale and danger and stewart and bont and trealor and sideass and pendles and toby coniglio and jelly are all picking up their pensions
I think it is more than very likely that we’ll split pick 8. Unless the order of the top 6 is totally unexpected.

I can’t see us a sliding back with any other club other than GWS considering Richmond’s reluctance to trade their picks.

Now do the same exercise with their key position players..

That’s what you’re missing.
