Langford or FOS and if can’t get either of them then would probably go for a Draper but wouldn’t be rapt about it. No to Smillie for me.
So if Smillie and Draper were on the board at our first pick, you'd take draper with the first and do what with the next? Neither Langford or FOS are available here so what next?

I'd be taking both.
Good chance one or another won't live up to the hype.

Time for the daily "change of mind" pick discussion haha

I want us to get a pick in the teens to grab Joe Berry.

Yes, we have Higgins, but Berry can compliment him and looks like exactly the sort of player Ross loves to coach.

I have zero confidence in Collard so having another top end small forward on the list is important because right now it's Snags or bust.

Just had a thought

We all know of Xavier Lindsay's game in the U18s Champs Grand Final

This was played at Marvel Stadium

I would not be surprised to learn that we rate Lindsay higher than other clubs since our home ground seems to suit his running/kicking/skillful game to a tee

Seems like the kind of nuance that would result in a bolter

Yeah, if it's a matter of who suits us best Lindsay is top of the pops. The unknown quantity is how much they want that big bodied ball pig.
Solely on suitability it's Allan and Lindsay right now but then there's the question of scope which we're not to know.

So how does everyone feel about Tauru?

Every chance he gets thru to us if the clubs before us all go mids

Do we take him?

I would, yep.

Replaces Battle. Different enough to Arie & Cole that they could all develop together. Has all the markings of a gun.

If he's there at 7 I'd take him then consider splitting 8 to take two mid options in the teens, otherwise just grab Allan/Murphy and be done.

If only one ( or none if Tauru doesn't go top 6) slide , i'd be pretty happy with trading out number 8.
If we ended up with Smilly, Lindsay , and Berry , pretty good to me.

What do you think we will do with Pick 32? Trade it out for Late Future 2nd or Early Future 3rd?
I’d like them to take another KPD, but no idea.

No problem with Finn - would love to see him get to us (but unfortunately he won't) BTW what are you disputing in my earlier comments?
I agree, if we are lucky enough to get him I'll be doing backflips.

Not much really as everyone watches and sees things differently. I thought what Finn was able to do as a young kid was exceptional.

I'll agree all home grown talent was a stretch but the vast majority of the side through the years were players that have played the majority of their football at Koroit. Can't deny how good they were for such a long time.

In this mock draft we get
O'Sullivan
Allan
Simms
Cole
Hoffmann
Boyd

And Trainor after swapping a F1 to the Tigers in the early 20s.

The lad that did this is a Saints supporter. He made a lot of sense but the cards fell our way in his mock.

If he’s right it would be an amazing haul.

Hannaford might be the option a little further back.

Many seem quite confident we can trade back in with our F1. If this draft is as strong and deep as everyone is saying and clubs see it this way, why would any of them trade out of this draft?

If their picks will be dissolved by matching.

Clubs with multiple picks and are willing to hedge their bets

Richmond being the prime example. They need talls and next year is a KPP draft so I'd imagine they'd want more stake in that

GWS are a team in contention and don't need to immediately top up with a high quantity of young talent - they can afford to spread things out and take their time. Maybe they'll need an extra F1 to trade in a gun player

I think clubs trying to trade in without existing 2024 currency will find it harder.

I think we are lucky in that:

A) pick 8 will get us existing picks in the first round - which trumps trying to trade in with F1s for those picks.

And

B) p32 can be used to entice a club to slide out to our pick + a future pick for the pick we target.

Less than 5% of the hypertheticals come to fruition and personal bias reigns supreme when thinking about them.

Collard's attitude is definitely concerning, you would think the club would be working with him to improve his body language and approach to training.

How long does he get to develop and show footy means something to him?

I agree with you re looking for another small forward, but I dont think it will occur in the 1st round. Perhaps at pick #32 a small may come into play Dattoli, Hannaford or similiar.
