I'll use my phone and put my headphones on.

Stav yes it is but I don't like the boring interviews on Fox. Only drawback is Ablett, boring sycophantic AFL company man.

On SM-S908E using BigFooty.com mobile app
Oh man those interviews. All over the top of any analysis of what’s just happened or what will happen. I didn’t realise AFL didn’t do the same?

Also need to include the controversial Sandringham Zebras rookie which means we need to take Peckett in main draft.
This means pick 32 would need to be the ruck if we are going down that path.
hopefully cole/peckett is the sandy rookie, taking that problem out, last convo i saw here we seemed to have decided that those 2 qualify

So let's look at the option of splitting the pics. For arguments sake, let's just assume Taurau goes at 2 or 4 and we get one of the mids we want with 7, let's just say Langford as that seems the flavour of the month.

If 15 and 16 are the targets, we only need to consider the next best group of 9 players.

So what would we rather, our first choice from the following 10 or so or our last 2 preferences:

  • Reid
  • Allan
  • Trav
  • Armstrong
  • Hotton
  • Berry
  • Shanahan
  • Lindsay
  • Hynes
  • Trainor

Am I missing anyone?

Out of this group the two most appealing are Reid and Allan. We won't be able to get both and I prefer Reid, so that rules Allan out for me.

it's such a gamble, if we split the picks and miss out on Reid I'd be disappointed. If we split them and get Reid, I'd be happy to take a punt on Hotton or Trainor, would feel like a free hit for a high risk / Hugh reward type.
this is why im totally in favour of splitting 8 for 15/16,any 2 of those are better than one in isolation, added to that with all the different possible outcomes the one we consider best may well still be there, with the acception of allan(wa team or elsewhere)and trav(reason gws moved up)

personally reid and trainor would do me nicely, but take out armstrong hotton and berry & im running with pick 7 and any 2 of the rest

two vs one is also insurance vs the bust factor

No they won’t.

Kako Marshall Lombard and Ashcroft aren’t available to us and they blow the order out.

The same players would be available
I see your point but it’s not for me. Reid, Lindsay, Allan and Travaglia are all very likely to be gone by 15/16. Reid is a chance but i’m not giving up 8 for a chance to get a player. I’d rather take Langford/Smillie + Reid/Lindsay then trade back in later with the F1/32 if a player we like is still available. Most clubs would kill for the opportunity to take 7/8 this year. As you touched on we have the flexibility of having a F1 + 32 to use to jump back in.

I’m confident our team can make the big calls for 8 and trading back in to take a targeted player. We don’t need to trade back and rely on other clubs passing on the players we like. The smart clubs target players and we have joined this group.

I'd be happy with a selection of Hynes and Trainor at 15 + 16. Can see them both being there at this point. Also, I can't believe how far Trainor's slid, I reckon he's the better key defender already between him and Tauru, and can't see why they won't end their careers with Trainor being the better of the two.

Trainer could potentially be a McCartin scenario where he’s one or two head knocks away from retirement

I will be interesting if GWS go ahead with the whispered trade with Port - swap 13, 29 for 15,21. 8 for 13,21? 13 still feels in the middle of nowhere - Allan, Travaglia very likely gone, one of Lindsay or Reid possibly there. Depends on who posters personal favourite is. But 21 is a fair way out, but could still land Trainor. 32 is likely a good spot to nab a KPD (or Sims)

Gee, that makes you think doesn’t it?

I sure as hell hope the Hokthorn Hoks don’t have any bad luck with their expensive new long term recruit

Does anyone know what would happen if Cole was bid on at say, pick 28. With the 20% discount that would mean we need pick 34 to match.

So because that's lower than our 32, can we make up points with other picks? Or do we have to use 32 and get change?

Slightly different scenario. Suspect our recruiters probably weren’t welcome in the Hotton household for player interviews
While you can understand a family with a completely one sided view of the situation … imagine fast forwarding a few years to a delisted Taj, St Kilda’s recruiters (with zero connection to what is happening now) are very interested, but it costs the kid a list spot. It’s a bit petulant.

Have to use 32 but yes, we get a pick back to make up the excess DVI

Also, if he is bid on at 28 it wouldn't be a 20% discount, it'd be a 197 DVI discount

It uses 32 and if there is change creates a new pick equivalent to I believe.

That’s about the right list and of those the most likely to be remaining are Hotton & Hynes who I think are a level below so then we are crossing our fingers Reid falls through or we are ok to risk it with Trainor.

Allan Travaglia Lindsay Armstrong and Shanahan will all be gone by 15

I would expect something like

8. GWS - Travaglia
9. Mel - Armstrong
10. Rich - Allan
11. Rich - Shanahan or Reid
12. WC - Lindsay
13. Port - Shanahan or Reid
14. Freo - Berry

15. Stk - Hynes
16. Stk - Trainor ? Hotton?

Maybe someone goes earlier on a Whitlock eg. Port if Shanahan is gone but I think the top end of this pool ends at pick 12 or 13 then the next lot through to about 25 are interchangeable depending on preference and risk appetite.

Maybe we know Reid will drop all the way but more likely I think we are one of the clubs who don’t want him all the talk is we like Travaglia Lindsay and Allan none of them will be available at 15
