Sorry by why the fk would we want Freo's F1 when they are likely to be Top 6 next year and that pick could likely slide into the 20s ..... for a 6 pick slide back in this draft?

Stop talking crap you muppets .... keep your eye on the ball
Long game mate. So we can speculate what two frdps can get us in the 2025 trade period. Bloody hell don't you know the list manager and recruiters are always thinking what the nuffs on BF can talk about for a year?

Looking at where the bids could come based on what the HS are saying (obviously pick trades would change things)

Cole - Sydney (19, 22, 44, 59) and Collingwood (52, 55, 60) showing the most interest.

Sydney at 44 the big watch here. If they pass, a bid in the 50s would be great news.

Hoffman - WC (12, 26, 73), Melbourne (5, 9), Geelong (45, 57)

Geelong seems the most likely here at either pick. Rule Melbourne out. WC would be going super early at 26.

Funnily enough - Sydney and Geelong were the two who bid on Owens and Windy which would be a funny coincidence.

If we DO go with Trav, then I think it makes sense on a bunch of bases…

1. Sincs ain’t getting any younger.
2. NWM is a constant danger of wanting to return to SA.
3. It may be that we think he can “do a Hayden Young”, and if so, he has the perfect mentor for two years in McLobster.
4. In either position, his speed, running capacity, and lovely kicking would suit the way I think Ross wants to play.

If it goes that way then we could field an eventual backline of;

B: Hoffman - Cole - Schoenmaker
HB: NWM - Caminiti^ - Travaglia

Int: McLennan

And that is a HELL of a lot of running power and precision kicking to catapult off half back with…

^I really think Hammer could make an excellent CHB… he’s awkwardly athletic, has great hands, and is competitive as ****.

Twomey on SEN this morning said clubs are and would be coming hard for our pick 8.

Thinks the top 10 players won’t change in his mock (sounds like Travaglia at 8?)
After losing Perryman and Cumming GWS would love to get Tobie Travaglia you'd think

Just hard to work out what we would receive - likley a future pick I guess. Moving back for a pick in the 30s is an average deal, especially since we have one two picks later and with the potential bids, might not need them both.
Yep, would be odd. Maybe a mix of 30 and a ho hum future? Maybe we think there will be someone (or two) available there in the 30s that we love? Or our only way to keep F1, but getting a late first by trading 30 and 32 for one?

Can't say I am sold on Travaglia

Just doesn't get my balls tingling
I mean… good?

The issue with pick 30 is I dont think we have the list space for 4 picks before bids so we'd need to be very confident a club would take multiple 2nds for one of those picks in the 20s.

Future first for a 6 pick slide back?

Gets your Reid or Lindsay
It sounds good in an impartial / thinking of it being a two year draft block. But Freo’s F1 could be low teens or worse, which is worse than getting a pick 18-20ish this year. As you say, it’s a big slide given we were thinking that 15,16 would be the heart of any GWS deal. Hope it’s all scuttlebutt and coming from Freo

This is going to sound real dumb, but ...

What if we take 8 and trade it for someone's pick 1 to 3 below us plus a future 2nd/3rd. Repeat multiple times. Amass a range of picks to improve next years.

Will changes to bidding next year mean that these picks are going to be more or less valuable?

I’ve been thinking about this & there’s a possibility of a mega pick swap between us & the Giants…8, 32, 47 for 15,16,21,37 & 56 (doubt they’ll use it)
That would get some arousal on draft night!!

The second rounders probably become very valuable. Almost like shifting best value from 30s/40s to 20s/early 30s. Using F1, but holding two F2s may well get us back into f1 next year.
