The issue with pick 30 is I dont think we have the list space for 4 picks before bids so we'd need to be very confident a club would take multiple 2nds for one of those picks in the 20s.
Will be very disappointed if we can only take 3 in this draft (I know that we do in fact get a couple more with Cole and Hasselhoff, but they’re like already unwrapped presents).

If we DO go with Trav, then I think it makes sense on a bunch of bases…

1. Sincs ain’t getting any younger.
2. NWM is a constant danger of wanting to return to SA.
3. It may be that we think he can “do a Hayden Young”, and if so, he has the perfect mentor for two years in McLobster.
4. In either position, his speed, running capacity, and lovely kicking would suit the way I think Ross wants to play.

If it goes that way then we could field an eventual backline of;

B: Hoffman - Cole - Schoenmaker
HB: NWM - Caminiti^ - Travaglia

Int: McLennan

And that is a HELL of a lot of running power and precision kicking to catapult off half back with…

^I really think Hammer could make an excellent CHB… he’s awkwardly athletic, has great hands, and is competitive as ****.
Agree on Hammer. Hope he can stick on size, but the shoulder won’t help that

Looking at where the bids could come based on what the HS are saying (obviously pick trades would change things)

Cole - Sydney (19, 22, 44, 59) and Collingwood (52, 55, 60) showing the most interest.

Sydney at 44 the big watch here. If they pass, a bid in the 50s would be great news.

Hoffman - WC (12, 26, 73), Melbourne (5, 9), Geelong (45, 57)

Geelong seems the most likely here at either pick. Rule Melbourne out. WC would be going super early at 26.

Funnily enough - Sydney and Geelong were the two who bid on Owens and Windy which would be a funny coincidence.
Sydney are consistent bidders, so back it in they’ll have a crack at Cole

Twomey -

Tauru & Langford are in contention for Melbournes pick 5.

Draper Langford Tauru for our pick 7.

Pick 8 is the beginning of tier 2 where you can throw a blanket over them from 8-15. Clubs all want Travaglia from that group.

Saints could split or even consider trading out for the right offer.

Sounds like Travaglia will go at pick 8. Just a question of whether another club can offer us something to give him up.

Sorry did I wake up in an alternate universe? Draper is not sliding to us

Mission - Simon Dalrymples strategy is take the best available
Don't get me wrong, Misso is a boring bloke, but what is the point of these interviews? We don't get anything new that hasn't already gone around the media and/or Big Footy for the past fortnight

"Yeah gday Cal and Riles, we're actually looking to take the worst available, hoping for a couple of plodders and/or list cloggers to really frustrate our fans for the next decade and we're really excited that we're in a great position to be able to do that"

I'm super weary of putting much value on any future picks. Next year's draft is so compromised that the whole system is going to be tested - clubs with academy kids will be offloading top picks for points, and the available talent will be diluted anyway, so there's massive risk there.

Trading down for picks this year is the way to go, not future picks.

“If the best player is a tall forward at 7&8 we will take him”
Posturing. Trying to get Melbourne or Richmond to take Armstrong so that a mid slides to us.

Huge number of viable KPF in this draft (and even more next year apparently). Could entertain trading 8 to later in the first round to look at Shanahan, and in the second round there will be plenty of solid options possible - Faull, Gerreyn, Sims, etc. No need for us to look at KPF at 7 or 8

Giving away too much info. If he kept his cards close to his chest and feigned that we could go for a Tauru or Armstrong, then we'd have a better chance of landing 2 bloody good mids !
He literally says if the best player is a tall. We will take them.
