Can't believe Lyon, Silvagni, Dalrymple, and Allen can be so wrong about Travaglia and some blokes watching 5 minutes of highlights can be so correct.

This has been an extraordinarily entertaining evening.

Yeah coaches and recruiters have never ever gotten it wrong before. We'd all be happy to be proven wrong but I'm not happy going from hopes of draper/smillie to f*****g Travaglia.

As oppose to the fans who have most liekly never watched the players play life, never spoken to their coaches or the players themselves. FFS

I’m tipping Cal Twomey to get it very wrong this draft.. here’s hoping anyway..
I think Twomey has gone very very safe with this mock draft .... I think he may put out another update tomorrow ... but to me this year he genuinely doesn't know what will happen .... so play it safe so at least he might get a few correct

I didn't say i was right. We're just livid going from hopes of drafting one or 2 players like Smillie, Draper, or Langford to Travaglia who we have to hope and pray can become an elite mid as well as changing his kicking game too.

Lyon Silvagni Dalrymple & Allen would have got plenty wrong in the past .... why not Travaglia??

After picking up my spew and gaining a bit of consciousness I haven’t been this riled up since we took Ben long over shai Bolton. I’m a calm individual but I’ve lost it tnite

Interested to know what everyone’s view of TT and Tarau at 7&8 versus trading the picks for FOS/Smith/Draper at 2?

The ridiculously negative views on TT and the large melts this afternoon suggest many would go the latter rather than take the pair.

FWIIW, I’m in the use pick 7 and split pick 8 camp.

I'm in the Just don't f*** it up camp. If we miss out on one of the top 6, just draft Lindsay and Allan and hang on to our future 1st. Work some magic in the latter rounds.

Two options for me.

Option 1:

Keep 7, take Tauru - trade 8, 32 & F1 for Reid, Hynes & Trainor.

Option 2:

Trade F1 & 7 for FOS, 8 for Reid & Trainor.

That's best case assuming North and Crows don't trade.

In a vacuum I wouldn’t trade 7/8 for 2. But we need elite mids and without them we’ll have a capped ceiling as a team moving forward. Given how drained the upcoming drafts look and how rare it is to sign elite mids. I think this is our best opportunity to get one. I wouldn’t hesitate given that opportunity. Makes our life easier going forward and has a flow on effect if we are able to develop our own and/or pick up LDU (makes it more attractive to sign with us imo).

This part of Twomeys phantom write up is interesting -

Expect the Saints to grab a ruckman in there somewhere (potentially as a rookie) and they have looked at WA mature-ager Lachie Blakiston and Norwood big man Harry Boyd as well as young ruckman Aiden Riddle. If Alex Dodson is there at 32 he would have to be looked at closely too. West Australian midfield pair Cody Angove and Hugh Boxshall could be in the mix, they have done work on defender James Barrat, while the Saints have also assessed Tom Ryan, a Sydney Academy prospect who is a tall forward and the cousin of Richmond's Samson.

Anyone else with me on Lalor (potentially) going to be a poor man’s Stringer. No way Tigers will risk him with Pick 1, they’ll play it safe and select FOS.
No way. He's definitely got way more drive and discipline than Stringer for a start. I'm not sure what Richmond will do but from what I've seen I don't think you can say that FOS is definitively better than Lalor. I think they'll take the shot on the guy who plays like a young Dusty.

Tigs will have p1 next year and another top pick in 2026. There will be another FOS available to them but Lalor is a rare beast so l reckon he's it.

Would be pleasantly surprised if Tauru is available at 7/8

Still not sold on Travalgia. Would rather Allan/Reid

I think Toby Travaglia is a similar type to Bo Allan, they both seem best suited to a half back role, they are dynamic, speedy players who battle for the ball and get it going forward. I think Travaglia is a better kick than Allan but his attempts at long kicks do tend to go too high, his shorter kicks (<40m) tend to hit targets. Both players tend to rush their disposals at times by hand and by foot. I think Allan progressed into the midfield because the WA side did lack dynamic midfielders. Travaglia probably would have too except he had a lot of more specialised midfield players ahead of him in the Vic country squad.
