The midfield situation isn't quite as dire as everyone is making it out to be with the addition of McLobster. Yes it's only for 3 years or so most likely, but that's still 1 midfield addition we've made in the off season. We don't have to draft 2 or 3 mids or we're screwed. Steele, McLobster, Windhager, Clark, Dow, Jones, Pou, Garcia. It's not star studded but it is our most deficient area. Clark and Dow would probably want to have a good year next year or get used to playing for the Zebs. Jones only has a few years left and is another who might end up in the 2's. We've also got Wilson, Henry, Stocker who can occasionally do a spell in the midfield.

A powerful, line breaking mid with skill would be the dream though to compliment our midfield. Draper or Smillie would be the best fit I think. If we get either of those 2 tomorrow I think it makes a big difference.
Do the same midfield exercise for the other top 8-10 clubs and tell me it’s not dire.

We’re 2 midfielders short of being a consistent top 6 side such is our talent in other areas. It’s absolutely bloody dire

could move Cordy forward as well

OH BOY

They'll all be expecting a defensive Lyon game plan, and RoMa will just snatch it out of the ruck and bomb it to an unbeatable forward line. Tauru, Caminiti, King, Cordy, Sharman, Hayes , all ready to mark it, and .........................somehow it drops into James Sicily's arms. Luckily Wilkie stops the potential score chain.

Why, whatever happens we get two young quality players.
Very excited by potentially Tauru, not so much about Travaglia but will back the kid all the way if we select him.

That's the vibe the board is giving, I haven't been following the draft until tonight!

Tauru’s height will only allow him to be 3rd defender. Not a key position defender. He’s not a mid. And if we want a FWD we’d be better off with Armstrong.

Travaglia could be a mid but maybe not. We have enough HBF’s.

Bo Allan is a good tagger but can he be an attacking mid?

Hoping we pass on all 3 but if we do draft them of course I’ll back them in.

I would like to draft the 2 best mids available that have played mid throughout the year.

In this order of preference based on what might be available to us:

Draper
Lindsay
Smillie
Murphy Reid

Very, very wise decision let me tell you!
It’s been a sh*tshow of emotion on here.
🤣

All you campaigners thinking we’re going to be a contender overnight need to calm the **** down. It’s going to take a couple of more drafts plus Free Agency to put us in the sweet spot. Just enjoy the ride, as I’ve always posted, despite protests, we were always picking the best talent available.

We don’t need anymore Rob Eddys and Mini’s on our list!

'We' being GWS right ?

While he’s played some decent games as a defender, Tauru looks as natural as CHF I’ve seen since the last blonde European we had.

'Lee' is a Chinese name isn't it?

It's definitely deficient, and a fair few who have been getting games would ideally be depth, but it's not such a liability as people are making out. Losing Crouch was a fair blow and a top team would have had the depth to cover him, which we didn't really. But we also had injuries to a lot of our depth midfielders as well which was a perfect storm. But review the end of the year:

Rd24 vs Carlton: lost clearances 34-39, lost centre clearances 12-13. Still won.
Rd23 vs Geelong: lost clearances 32-37, lost centre clearances 11-17. Still won.
Rd22 vs Richmond: clearances 28-28, lost centre clearances 12-11. Still won.
Rd21 vs Lions: lost clearances 27-48, lost centre clearances 7-15. Smashed. Neale, McCluggage and Dunkley dominated.
Rd20 vs Essendon: lost clearances 29-32, lost centre clearances 10-15. Still won.

We've already done the most useful thing possible for our midfield, bring in an experienced inside midfielder who we know can impact straight away. Macrae averages 4.3 clearances a game, in 2021 he averaged 6.8 clearances a game (!), I cannot picture any of these underage mids coming in and doing that straight away for a full season. Maybe Smith or Draper, but it's an unknown at AFL level. Ideally more elite midfielders to push the likes of Dow, Clark, Jones into the 2's to be ready to cover for injuries, but we aren't nearly as exposed as a club that doesn't have a quality key forward or key back (well, debatable for the key back...).

Macrae cost us an early 3rd round pick and we essentially get a player the calibre of Jack Steele added to our midfield right away. People are getting dazzled by the prospects and potential of the next group of potential stars to the point of ignoring that we've bolstered the midfield partially already. If we can trade up on the night without overpaying a silly amount to get a Draper, FOS or Smith that would be great, but it won't be the end of the world if we don't get one of the top couple of mids either.

Ok campaigners, hope you all have your cuck chairs in place for tomoz night while we watch the club we all love get right royally, rodgered by the recruiters.

Also love the irreverent, irrelevant, irreligious illiteration.

Higgins 🤦‍♂️ Although…….a little birdie told me we wouldn’t have gotten another pick if we finished higher, and he would know.

Then they dropped the draw from hell on us, so very St Kilda, but not as bad as hoping the Sainters won a quarter on a Saturday if you followed us from 1979-1987, where a 5 win season was seen as a success, but we very regularly only won 2 or 3 games for the whole year.

So don’t complain!!!!!!!!
