Not what the captain thinks is it

He said someone to play alongside him in midfield next year.
Must already hate Macrae and Carroll.

And did he really say he expects a generational mid to be selected at 7 ( from a bunch of 6 mids that are basically even in quality).
And did you miss the bit where if we split the pick we end up with a mid?

We have recruited 5 mids in two years, ( Dow, Henry, Macrae, and Carroll, Hall) we have selected Windhager,Pou, Hotton ( gone) Wilson and Garcia in the last couple of drafts, we are bound to get at least one this draft.
The plan next year is to recruit or FA a gun midfielder( plans don't always work).

Like missing 5 and 6, it is what it is, I won't be happy if we take Travaglia and split 8 missing Tauru, however they can't conjure up a Martin or Robert Harvey if one ain't there.

You want to argue the exceptions?
Exception vs rule.

It is very very rare that the elite midfielders in the AFL played a different role at u/18 level.

That’s an absolute reality. History says that’s it’s unlikely a HBF develops into a gun mid. They might, but the odds are against them.
What you call exceptions, others would call recent examples which show how the modern half back can easily develop into a midfielder due to the similar skill set which both positions must possess these days.

I'm bewildered that some people think what a player does at 17 dictates what they will be forever. Or that because they played more half back than mid this year, that they arent capable of ever reversing that as they develop in a professional environment.

But maybe you are right and we should move Sinclair, Nas, Wilkie, Wood and Marshall back to the position they played as 17 year olds. Obviously, thats where they should be playing and we've been using them wrong all this time.
Yes some players regress from what they do at 17

If the big 6 are off the board come our pick 7 then take Tauru .... then trade pick 8 to Tigers for pick 10 & 20 or 23 ..... then trade that pick 10 & F2 to GWS for 15 & 16

We will have Tauru + 15, 16 & 20 or 23 & 32

Tigers get our pick 8

GWS get pick 10

We get 4 picks and keep 32

That's my final offer

Why haven’t we solved our midfield woes with the abundance of half backs we have on our list if the skillset is so similar and the midfield craft so easy to develop?

Tauru has been likened to West Coast stalwart Nic Naitanui due to his athleticism but he has also been likened to Hawthorn captain James Sicily in terms of his defensive game and aggressive attack on the ball, Sydney captain Dane Rampe due to his ability to rebound out of defence and to another degree, Port Adelaide utility Aliir Aliir due to his versatility.

Jesus, sounds like he was made in a lab!

I have my playlist ready for the unveiling of our new elite midfielders Tobie Travaglia and Alixzander Tauru

Sing along!

The car is on fire, and there's no driver at the wheel
And the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides
And a dark wind blows

The government is corrupt
And we're on so many drugs
With the radio on and the curtains drawn

We're trapped in the belly of this horrible machine
And the machine is bleeding to death

The sun has fallen down
And the billboards are all leering
And the flags are all dead at the top of their poles

It went like this:

The buildings tumbled in on themselves
Mothers clutching babies
Picked through the rubble
And pulled out their hair

The skyline was beautiful on fire
All twisted metal stretching upwards
Everything washed in a thin orange haze

I said, "Kiss me, you're beautiful -
These are truly the last days"

You grabbed my hand
And we fell into it
Like a daydream
Or a fever

We woke up one morning and fell a little further down
For sure it's the valley of death

I open up my wallet
And it's full of blood

He is 187cm ..... even if you drafted him as a backline interceptor that ain't tall .... he is very skinny as well

Someone pointed out earlier that in reality at AFL level he likely becomes a defender who covers the smaller forwards ... he is not big enough for key position and I don't think he is tall enough for that true interceptor role

He won't become a mid because there will always be players that are better than him in that position

He would be our new Webster or at worst our new Paton

So do use a top 10 pick on that type of player?

Tom Stewart is one of the best interceptors in the AFL and he is 190cm tall. I reckon fair chance Trav could still be growing.

James Sicily is 188cm.

187 with potential to grow is tall enough. If he can clunk them then he can clunk them!
