From what I hear when they give golf updates on the news etc, I guess the guys who win all the titles average 2 or 3 under par each round. So if par (the average expected?) is say 75 ... he would be hitting 79 to 80? What do you need to make a living from it (ie what do the pros shoot typically).
Most courses have a par of 70-72, so if he plays to his handicap it's around the 76 mark. Thats good golf by any standard really. But is he far off being a pro? Well, the short answer is yes. Quite a long way really. So if par (the average expected?) is say 75 ... he would be hitting 79 to 80? What do you need to make a living from it (ie what do the pros shoot typically).

Most of the guys earning a living as a tour Pro were playing off scratch (0) or better by their early to mid-teens, winning club championships, state and national amateur titles etc... There are some exceptions, with guys taking up the game later. I read somewhere that at any point in time there are around 5000 kids playing off scratch by age 15 around the world. The reality is, though, for all those young guys playing off scratch by 5, very, very few will go on to have a successful career as a tour pro.
What does that mean for the non golf aficionados out here?
I’d be happy with any one of the following at our first pick;I hope Joel Freijah makes it to our first pick. I would choose him over any tall available there. Talent over need is my mantra. Though he can be needy for us. Plus it will be good to see another Horsham boy on our list
I’d be happy with any one of the following at our first pick;
Cooper Simpson. Midfield/Wing/Forward.
Phoenix Gothard. Small Forward.
Joel Freijah. Wing.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Freijah made it to our second pick.At least one will be there.

There’s a lot of half backs and small forwards available around our first and second pick, and a couple of third tall forward types (that all lack speed and/or athleticism).

Rich is a very good golfer by all reports - he’d have a very low handicap.iirc Rich plays golf and the Scotts did and a few others - did they have similar 'ratings'?
Ah so 'Plays golf off 4 or 5.' is that same as saying someone has a handicap of 4 or 5?Rich is a very good golfer by all reports - he’d have a very low handicap.
IIRC Mitch Lewis from Hawthorn was an extremely good junior, to the extent he could have looked at going down the golfing route over football.
But as others have said, he’d be up against it in terms of actually making money from the sport.
Yep the sameAh so 'Plays golf off 4 or 5.' is that same as saying someone has a handicap of 4 or 5?
I have a bunch more newbie questions in my brain right now but will stop derailing the thread now (I am sure if I went to wiki and looked up golf handicap etc I would find more information than I wanted there)
The only query on him is his height, and if he can play regular midfield minutes at 172cm.Jake Rogers is a gun. I’d have him top 7. Unbelievable he’s rated in the mid teens.
Suns picking up some very good players that fill urgent needs this draft.
Could be their Dayne Zorko 2.0 for them, hopefully that means they don’t want him at the end of next yearThe only query on him is his height, and if he can play regular midfield minutes at 172cm.
Just following the draft watchers, any of the KPP’s around our first two picks either are real athletic, but lack in the kicking and/or skills department. Or lack in the athletic and speed department, and are undersized.I have not followed the draft as much this year but i wouldn't be surprised to see the Lions draft players that aren't some of the more well known names. I personally still see height as an issue in KPF, KPD and also Ruck as something that should be looked at but would not be surprised at all to see the club draft totally different to that as well.
And they have Leo Lombard next draft, who is a Touk Miller clone.Could be their Dayne Zorko 2.0 for them, hopefully that means they don’t want him after one season![]()
