Definitely don't need Stengle. We're stacked for small forwards. Not worth what he'd cost.

Same situation with LDU.

We don't need every quality footballer coming out of contract when our list management team has done an excellent job of setting us up on every line.

would be really top heavy, would honestly be surprised if they did anything more than checked in on it

From the latest Gettable episode it sounds like Ward really wants more midfield time. It's obvious that's where he plays his best footy but I think he's going to find it hard to only just play there and will need to add more strings to his bow.

Could Ward be tried as a rebounding half back like Essendon's Andrew McGrath it seems to have worked wonders for him even though he was recruited as a mid.

If a player of LDU's calibre wants us, we make it happen.

We need quality depth. We don't have this currently across all lines yet.

The Dogs in 2021 had Dunkley, Smith, Lipinski and Treloar starting on the flanks and bench. That's depth. We still need 3 or 4 more pieces in my view.

Absolutely he could but you're still faced with the same issue....we just omitted Seamus to accommodate the Wiz and by all reports Seamus was best on ground for BH.

The battle for those smaller defensive roles is no less fierce than in midfield.

The fact Ross Lyon mentioned us in the media re Battle earlier in the year was very strange.

Also he said that during the time when most were expecting him to re-sign very soon. Rumours where it was about to be announced, everyone at StKilda and Media were confident he was about to sign and it didn't happen and still hasn't. Ross comes out says "oh well he's a free agent, and hawthorn have been chasing him...."

You just wonder if the Saints are happy with the AFL compensation they might be about to receive if Battle leaves and playing the game.

Dogs also lost to a team with 3 main mids taking almost every centre bounce.

Having a more balanced team is more important than simply having depth in the middle.

Being able to rotate players in to try different looks is handy but definitely shouldn’t come at the expense of other areas on the ground.

I feel we have a good balance currently with our 4 main mids doing most of the work with other players getting a bit of a go here and there.
