I’ll take that in a heartbeat too.Isn't that part of Smith's issue(s) at Footstink - he feels he's wasted playing Wing & HFF?
Luggage + Amon on the wings, for mine. Smith to offer something completely different (pace) to our Centre Square crew.
As ive said, depends on the Taylor play. If he wants our offer, then it drains all draft capital for 2 years. And you can kiss goodbye Baz.I am not doubting TD and others on this board with Smith coming to us but media never mention us as a destination. Cats and Pies are the clubs
That is not the issue with Reeves. His biggest issue is that he is basically ineffectual around the ground. Meek has much better agility and his follow up work is really impressive. The other key issue is that the ruck rule change this year has nullified his greatest asset ? Winning tap outs)I really think people need to lay off Reeves. its not his fault that our midfield is s**t and can't convert first possession to clearances.
You'd think the ONLY thing standing in the way of it happening is the handbaggers. Always worth keeping in mind they rarely miss on who they target. What number is Bailey Smith wearing for us next year?
Seems a done deal
IMO could be an AA if he was to play there. Total head scratcher that he's not. You know Bevo and all thatHe needs to play BACK.
If he was to come to us then you'd think he'll rotate from midfield, wing and forward. It just won't be predominantly midfield which is what it should be for him.Isn't that part of Smith's issue(s) at Footstink - he feels he's wasted playing Wing & HFF?

I love the kid but a 12 year contract GTFOH
My first guess was the Shinbeggers and second guess the Swines. Pretty sure the longest deal we’ve ever rolled out is like 6 or 7 years. A 12 year deal could end up being an absolute albatross if he was to cop a career altering injury.Does anyone think that could be us with the 12 year carrot? I immediately think Swans but that's based on nothing apart from there history of signing marquee talls.

Don't forget Kurt Tippett! This is exactly what Sydney does. Their business model is all about having a marquee forward that kicks goals because that is what gets the punters through the gates and keeps them in the headlines. From Capper to Plugger to Hall to Franklin. They always get their man and will make him an offer that he won't be able to refuse.
CEO.
So why does Bevo play him as that?JUH isn't a 3rd tall
Why - because he barracked for Hawthorn as a kid?Hawk supporter as a kid
If Smith moves and DOESN'T come to us, that would be the one that hurts the most (McKay, Lynch, etc)
Because it’s been in play for 18 months already. Why - because he barracked for Hawthorn as a kid?
We openly declared last October we weren’t interested in grabbing him back thenBecause it’s been in play for 18 months already.
Pretty clear that was in the context of last season's Trade PeriodWe openly declared last October we weren’t interested in grabbing him back then
and that was before he did his ACL.
He is a key forward, they just happen to have 3 key forwards. So why does Bevo play him as that?
1. Naughton
2. Darcy
3. Ugle-Hagan
Agreed, however what’s happened in the past 18 months is:Pretty clear that was in the context of last season's Trade Period
That’s posturing. They will have been told it’s not happening that year so they say not interested but they didn’t say not interested at all just at that time. They also were highly complimentary so you know the interest is there. I would think it’s a done deal just a question of the trade specifics. It should be a future first with something coming back.We openly declared last October we weren’t interested in grabbing him back then
and that was before he did his ACL.
If we're not interested then it definitely shouldn't hurt.Agreed, however what’s happened in the past 18 months is:
1. we stated we weren’t interested in trading for him last post season.
2. Then he did his ACL.
3. Nothing else has happened.
So if he doesn’t come to the club I dare say it’s the same club which stated we weren’t trading for him in 2023, when he was fit, making a well informed decision.
That shouldn’t hurt.
