Read that back to yourself.
We’ve identified a guy can’t stay on the park enough for him to have any value to a side crying out for talls, so we’re going to ask for really good offers to trade him out?
No, I’m providing an argument that trading out a key forward when we’re short of them makes no sense. You’re just arguing for the sake of arguing now.
I'm not opposed to this either.King has been advocating priority picks in the draft for low finishing teams for years now .
Its all about speeding up rebuilds and competitiveness of the comp.
He actually was saying at the start of last season we should have got a PP in the previous draft as well due to academy and FS picks
So he is actually very consistent with this
Trading Lewis is a ridiculous call though
There might be clubs with much better medical teams than ours who can make these players more durable! Brisbane is one example. CJ and Mitch Lewis could both do with fresh starts with a medical team that can look after them better. I can’t imagine our injury record is all that good.Read that back to yourself.

Geelong have beaten nobody of any real substance, the draw is getting harder now for them. Will barely scrape into the 8, they aren’t that goodPutting it this way - if Geelong keeps playing the way they are and we keep playing mostly the way we are - you’re going to want to hope that Smith still loves the thought of playing for us as much as Ginnivan did.
I’ll say the same thing again. There might be clubs with much better medical teams than ours who can make these players more durable! Brisbane is one example. Yep. North got peanuts for Ben Brown. The only situation that makes sense to trade Lewis is if a club came with an offer to good to refuse. If you shop him you dilute the trade value and as people have rightly said his injury history would likely dilute the value. There are other players that could net us second rounders I wouldn’t be trading Lewis for anything like that. Also Many have said on here we should be paying less for Bailey smith given ACL same applies. We are also light on in that position. At least my Sicily idea we have better coverage for. Thanks Kingy!
MelbourneIf Mitch Lewis isn’t worth keeping by us (a team in desperate need of KPF depth) then who is giving up a decent pick for him?
Literally makes no sense.
Think that ship has sailed though, would have made sense in '22 when they had capital from the Jackson tradeMelbourne
How does a pick in the 20’s (pushed back by the usual academy and father sons) help us? Even if they offered a future first as well, does 2024 pick 23 and 2025 pick 25 help all that much?Melbourne
Gold Coast and freo are the 2 clubs with multiple early picks. Gold Coast don’t need a volume of early picks so expect they look to trade but tbh they don’t want for much unsurprisingly. Maybe a quality small goal kicker or a break the lines HBF. Wonder what Caleb Graham is on contracted for 2 more years salary dump with a second round pick? How does a pick in the 20’s (pushed back by the usual academy and father sons) help us? So your assertion is that our medical team isn't good enough to get the best out of Lewis and CJ, and that we should trade these high potential players to other clubs for draft picks so that we can start developing some new players from scratch under the watchful eye of a medical team you've already determined isn't up to scratch? There might be clubs with much better medical teams than ours who can make these players more durable! Rumor going around is that Melbourne have offered Lewis a 4 year contract.Melbourne
Good luck getting a Victorian to agree to a trade to GC or Freo.Gold Coast and freo are the 2 clubs with multiple early picks. Freo in the market for a KPF with McDonald seemingly to be their target.
The idea that the second youngest list in the comp which was the youngest list in the comp in 2023 needs to Trade out senior players to get even more younger and more shitter is quite literally why North are getting 100pts kicked against them each week and are favourites for another wooden spo
Pick purchasing would solve several issues . One being clubs would never need a priority pick as they can simple purchase .I'm not opposed to this either.
It's virtually impossible to get the top of the elite with FS, academies. Jamarra, Daicos, Ashcroft have all been removed. That's three top 1 quality players of the last few drafts gone.
It's interesting how the idea of pick purchasing has seemingly vanished too. This would help us more than anything.
Take it and run. He's 26 and can't get on the park.Rumor going around is that Melbourne have offered Lewis a 4 year contract.
I hope we never end up with this mindset. Parasitic.
Bring in a lottery and hopefully prevent it being a discussion. Let’s be honest the rest of the system with academy players, FS, priority picks and then Free agency compensation we are half way there to a AFL run lottery as it is.
