Completely agree, but I reserve the right to melt down when Geelong inevitably get pick 1 from finishing in 13th due to injuries.
No, he actually makes a pretty sound point. You’re just arguing for the sake of arguing now.
It’s not the supporters fault. The system and the associated media coverage is set up to make supporters of bottom 4 teams pray for their team to lose. Even the clubs in the offseason try to trade their way to a higher draft pick that they could have had to start with if not for a meaningless win.I think there are a few on here with that mentality
Two things. First I would I never want my team to lose. NEVER. Second no win is meaningless. Some wins have saved careers as recently as our Vice captain Dylan. Others have been a springboard to the new season next year. I wonder whether Fremantle should have just lost to us last year in the last round a meaningless win right? It’s not the supporters fault. The system needs to change, as others have mentioned either a lottery of a play off amongst the bottom 4 teams for pick 1 could be a good solution. The AFL is too greedy to bring in a relegation so I can’t think of any other solutions. I remember last year one of the early rounds was being touted as Harley Reid cup. The media has full year round coverage of “generational talent” your club could miss out on to make the supporter cringe at wins.
All supporters want is for the club to have access to the best talent under a fair system so they can be competitive.
Don’t have a go at them!
Didn’t we get accused of tanking for doing this when we traded out much less significant players than Mitch Lewis?
You may not want your team to ever lose, but I want my team to win premierships and the last time that happened was when we had access to amazing talent in the draft. The system necessities finishing at the bottom to get good talent in. Like it or not, that’s the system! Two things. First I would I never want my team to lose. NEVER. Second no win is meaningless. Hopefully opposition recruited don’t read this or they’ll catch on and drop their offer cos they’ll know he’s not durableOf course it is… we’re relying on a guy who struggles to stay on the park.
No one said to trade him for peanuts.
This is just straight up bullshit. Last year he played 15 games straight and kicked multiple goals in all but 4. That is consistent. How does Lewis help us develop our young players. He has zero consistency in both being able to get on the park and to kick goals when playing.
I have seen 11 in my life time. Last time i checked to win premierships you need to win games mate. Losing games to get picks leaves you in the doldrums for many, many years. It is history. Carlton are a perfect example. Their gun players are pick 10 and pick 12 in the forward line. Yes Weitering is a pick 1 but May is not. It isn't essential. Geelong have an advantage more than just their development. Its their winning culture that attracts players like dangerfield and cameron and some of the players recently along with certain dodgy land deals. Its not the be all and end all because they haven't dominated by winning all of them premiershipsYou may not want your team to ever lose, but I want my team to win premierships and the last time that happened was when we had access to amazing talent in the draft. Our recruitment and development team is not as good as Geelongs so we DO NEED access to early draft picks.
I hope we never end up with this mindset. Parasitic.

Yes, his injuries have been frustrating, but when he's only the park and confidence is up, he is kicking goals regularly.
You said he's inconsistent when he's on the park, he clearly isn't.So for half the season he kicked 2 + goals.
I think that makes my point, thanks.
what pick or picks would you take for him?How does Lewis help us develop our young players. He has zero consistency in both being able to get on the park and to kick goals when playing.
If another club was silly enough to make a serious offer we should take it.
You said he's inconsistent when he's on the park, he clearly isn't.
Staying on the park, that's a different story.
Take what and run?Take it and run. He's 26 and can't get on the park.
what pick or picks would you take for him?
Of course it was Moore's performance. However if we as a team were trying to lose? What sort of performance do u reckon Moorey would have had?The win didn't save Moore's career, his personal performance in the game did.
If we were given a priority pick it would be a huge help. I'd rather it not come to that. But if we bomb out the rest of the season and earn ourselves a bottom two spot, then how arrogant would we be to not accept as much help as we could get?
We've been hurt, rightly or wrongly, with FA compensation picks, F/S and Academy picks. Several years out of finals. Nine years since a finals win. We've been one of the worst three sides in the league for several years, and that will likely become bottom two alongside North by the end of the season.
The ultimate aim is to win Flags. How we get there doesn't matter.
What a sh*t trade that would be.. You're not actually being serious are you?I doubt anyone would offer more than a 3rd round so it wouldnt be worth bothering.
If we got a low 20 offer and he was happy to leave we should take it.
He had the eighth highest goals per game last year, his issue was the games played, not what he produced when playing.6 games last year kicked more than 2 goals. And we are paying him I assume $650k to $700k or possibly more. Hopefully low base and large match payments.
Of the top 25 goal kickers last year only one played fewer than 20 games. It wasnt Lewis.
He simply is not the guy you want to spearhead a developing team.
Of course it was Moore's performance. However if we as a team were trying to lose? What sort of performance do u reckon Moorey would have had?
