What does he offer a developing team ?

Moral support from the sidelines ? Leadership with the rehab group ?

In 7 seasons he hasnt gone more than 15 games.

If he was the tip of the spear at another team we would be mocking them.
It took Curnow until his 7th year before he kicked 35 goals in a season, he played 15 games in 3 season before his breakout year. I guess Carlton should have also traded Curnow?

He was on the field regularly before his injury and subsequent injury recurrance and has been on the field since returning.

Lewis is always getting injured. There is a massive difference.

So who do we get in for Lewis?

Who's going to be our next key forward for the next 10 years? These guys take 6-7 years just to contribute consistently. Our cupboard is threadbare, we can't afford to lose him structurally.

Moore surely knew it was then or never coming into that game.

You reckon he'd have deliberately put in a stinker even if Clarko told the team it had to lose? Knowing full well that it would be his last ever game? He'd have played out of his skin no matter what.
It would only take on disgruntled delisted player to come out and say the coach told us to lose and you would be wiped out of several drafts and cop massive fines and the coach would be deregistered for a year or two.

Hello all. Is a Lewis trade to Freo far fetched? They’re a key forward away from genuinely contending and loaded with early picks to trade.
Don't think Freo would have the capital for us to consider the trade tbh.
Lewis is far too loved by the players and staff and is worth more to us than a pick in the 10-20 bracket.

Moore was playing a high half forward. He was reliant on others playing well for him to shine mate. Yes he knew full well where he was at. I mean just look at our performance this weekend as an example. Did he have a chance to shine? Yes the opposition is different in terms of personnel and the way they play but he isn't a mid doesn't control his own destiny. If the team tanked he would not be able to shine

The talk of trading Lewis is madness when we’ve quite literally been linked to every out of contract tall forward all through the media for last 18 months because we “want a key forward to pair with Lewis”.

Stop it.

It all just depends on when we think we will be in a position to contend / play finals. If it’s 4+ years away then Lewis out for picks or players that better suit our age bracket make sense, if its 1-2 years away it makes no sense. Personally I thought we were in the latter category but our performances this year, particular on the weekend have been very poor. Too early to make the call but if we have a 2 win season this year, our strategy has to & will pivot.

What does a pick in the low 20s offer a developing lacking high end talent? Its a 2nd round pick. What do you expect to do with that?

Then you have to replace Lewis?

How?

Free agency? How is that working out thus far considering it seems we've been into every out of contract key fwd the last couple of years?

Draft? Go punt on another young kid that in all likely hood wont become the player that Lewis is, when he is fit and the team can actually transition the ball from D50 to F50...

So you draft a key forward... great... then if he hasn't sealed his All Australian selection by round 4 in year one, people on here will be saying he's a bust.

No its happening imo

We will have a top 10 pick , Amiss and they can thrown in Darcy .

Lets talk 😆

If we trade him away then we would still technically be pairing him with another key forward. :drunk:

I’d do the Lewis trade every day of the week and the next if it’s a top 12 pick and some change

It take value to get value club will need to make some hard decisions

We desperately need KPPs and we should achieve this by…trading our KPPs?

We need a David King ban please.
I actually don't mind him and Kane.

He offers interesting takes in terms of midfield trends, concussion and game plans. He just has stubborn views on how to rebuild and the idea that player development and culture is negligible. Don't think people understand this throw away line is merely for clicks and to upset a few fans. Kane does the same things consistently and baits people.

As someone who has spoken to Kingy in public a few times, he's open to debate and questions. He's quite open that not everything he says is total truth, its to generate discussion. Negative or positive.

What if we threw in CJ as well?

He’s injury prone also!

Of course. I'm not saying we should have played to lose.

I'm saying the result of that game had no real bearing on saving Moore's career. His own performance saved his career.
