Tom Morris reporting that Lukosius has been given 'the green light' to seek a trade and 'do what's best for his career', but that they're 'also happy to keep him'.

Incredible the deliberate messaging from AFL journo's, clearly on the AFL $$ teet. Literally every AFL journo has been told to keep with the 'this isn't a Bowes situation' line, it's hilarious.

They want Pick 4 from the Crows for Lukosius, but as reported by Twomey are willing to give up Pick 6 for Rioli, who turns 29 next year........

You'd imagine Richmond aren't super keen for Rioli to leave, but the right trade will do it, but come on GC are going to need cap room for Rioli, and the 4,360 Academy kids and other superstars on their list.

It's a salary dump for a player who's not in their future plans anymore, if out list managers get duped I don't know what hope there is for us.

Insane.

Seems they want an early pick to get in before Lombard is bid on

Wonder if North, Richmond or WC are interested in Luko? Melbourne?

Right now I would legit throw the toys out of the cot if we spent pick 4 on Luko, regardless of what was coming back

AFL trade news 2024: Fringe Crows face nervous wait on contract calls

The Crows have vowed to be aggressive in the trade period to accelerate their rebuild, but it means fringe members of the squad have a nervous wait to see if they have contracts for 2024.

Adelaide’s players in contract-limbo will have to wait until just how busy the Crows are in the upcoming player movement periods before their futures at West Lakes are decided.
After their season ended on Saturday, Crows players continued their exit meetings on Tuesday at West Lakes.

While other clubs have announced delistings following the culmination of their seasons, the Crows are yet to reveal who won’t be at West Lakes in 2025.

This is because the future of several out-of-contract Crows will be dependent on how busy Adelaide is during free agency and trade period.

The Crows are confident of striking a deal for Melbourne’s Alex Neal-Bullen after he requested a trade home to South Australia for family reasons, and are in the mix for Gold Coast’s Jack Lukosius and GWS’ Isaac Cumming.
They were in the mix for Giants utility Harry Perryman but that is understood to now be on the backburner.

This means there are a number of Crows who are still waiting to find out if they will be at West Lakes in 2025.

Defender Will Hamill said that was the message he got from the club.

“Nah not yet, I will have to wait until after trade period,” he said.

“It is what it is, you just have to not think about it too much but I just have to wait and see.”

The 23-year-old played seven games for the Crows this year and said he would love to continue his time at the club.

“I would love to stick around, it has been an all-right year (for him),” he said.

Tall forward Lachie Gollant is another with his future up in the air.

“Still not too sure, just waiting on a few things so we will figure that out in due course,” he said.

“I’d love to stick around if they would have me but we will see what that looks like.”

Talisman Taylor Walker is expected to soon sign a new one-year deal, while veteran Brodie Smith has hit a trigger in his current contract for 2025.

Key defender James Borlase said talks regarding his future were trending in the right direction, while small forward Ned McHenry did not comment as he left West Lakes on Tuesday.

Sam Berry, Hugh Bond, Elliott Himmelberg and Paddy Parnell are the other Crows who are without a contract for 2025.

Ned McHenry did not comment”

We should be keeping Hamill over Smith as useful depth & not cooked.

Fxcken idiots played a completely out of form Smith to his trigger and then dropped him .. 😂

SMH
really is remarkable list management. make sure he hits a trigger and then make him sanfl captain or something on an inflated wage.

I like how we don’t rush to make any delistings like other clubs are.

In case someone wants to trade for a spud who can’t make the 15th ranked side.
it’s like we are playing cards and can’t decide what to discard.

Just another example of the complete lack of planning and professionalism this club specialises in.

While other clubs are ruthless in their delistings, we are a deer in headlights.

If we aren't offering Tex a contract and he does want to play on would a club just wait until he's a delisted free agent to pick him up?
Tex will be a Crow next year.

He doesn't want to move from Adelaide.

How so?

No Cumming could mean we retain Hammill?

Keane goes it would appear Borlase will be kept as depth (I wouldn't i'd move him on and give Gollant a 12 month contract to retool him in defence).

Has Berry intimated to the club he wants to stay yet? We've already put an offer to him haven't we?

Gut feel is Berry leaves, surely with getting AFL gametime + having a contract in front of him he would’ve re-signed already, if he was going to

Agree that Cumming/Hamill could be linked - sounds like Cumming could be on the way, so Hamill’s future with us might be iffy (though I wouldn’t mind keeping him for a 1year deal as speedy depth)

Players livelihoods are at play. They should come out of Exit Interviews with a clear idea of their future.

I'd retire him and bring him in as our forwards coach and get rid of Burns. I imagine he'd be a great coach, his body is letting him down but he could still contribute to the team. Massive upgrade on Burns too.

But we all know he'll do a Rory Sloane and play a handful of games next year and be injured/managed for most.
