Should the AFC offer Taylor Walker a contract for 2025?

That's blue sky thinking though. Fact is that ANB wants to come home for personal reasons and there's only 2 clubs to go to. We're just as likely to push Keays back into the midfield as we are straight swap ANB for Murphy. Plus there's a guy like Taylor that could go back to SANFL. Hopefully you're right, but it's no foregone conclusion that Murphy and ANB won't play in the same best 23.
ANB has played a quite bit of midfield throughout his career and would likely have played a whole lot more if he was at the Crows. Been behind Oliver, Petracca, Viney and Brayshaw (until this season), even Tom Sparrow has played midfield off and on.

So if we do that, plus McHenry, Gollant, Sloane, Parnell are delisted / retired, re-sign Bond, how many of Burgess, Hberg and Keane do we have to get rid of to have room for 3 x ND picks, ANB, Cumming and Luko (assuming those things happen)? Is it 2? Or all 3 if we keep Hamill as well?
We're currently at 37 on the senior list (including Sloane's retirement).

To accommodate Luko, ANB, Cumming, plus 3x ND picks, we need to get down to 32. We're also +1 on the rookie list, having drafted Turray in the MSD.

Delisting McHenry & Gollant gets us to 35. Delisting Parnell creates a space for Turray.

We need to create 3 more vacancies - between Hamill, Burgess, Berg, and Keane. Hamill is on the rookie list, but we can delist/re-draft a senior player, effectively filling his vacancy with someone currently on our senior list.

That's the minimum, to accommodate our known trade/FA targets, while also meeting the AFL's manadatory minimum ND selections.

Attributes he showed plenty of in these games.
It would be one of our worst calls to delist him

I don't necessarily agree with the call but we played nearly every player we've got and it took him late into his contract (never extended) to get a run

Smells like a delist or wait to see if we have list spots move. A Ben Davis situation

If we are getting Rosas and Luko, I feel like we’ll target a first round pick to use for both of them with 25, an F2 and whatever we get for Keane. Maybe Brisbane’s pick?

How much more evidence is required for the Slicers to acknowledge Nicks is a moron??
If you want to payout a Contract ....even with surplus funds in the TPP, the Club will need all their $$$$ to get their trade targets

Miss the trade targets, yeah, it's a different scenario

That's not quite right.

Paying out a contract means that the payout (i.e. the player's 2025 salary) is included in the 2024 TPP. Any players being traded in would be in the TPPs for 2025, 2026 & beyond. If anything, paying out a contract now, bringing forward the player's future payments, would increase our available TPP in 2025, making it easier to get the trades done.

If Rosas has been delisted, do we need to trade for him? Or is it just another Keays situation where we add him to the list as rookie?
If he's delisted then we can just sign him as a DFA. No need to trade.

We do, however, need to have a list position for him to fill - which becomes really problematic if we're also targeting Luko, ANB, Cumming, and 3x ND selections (the AFL mandated minimum).

There wouldn't be a pay out if Nicks hadn't allowed Smith to hit his trigger,.

Nicks selected him enough times to trigger the new contract then FINALLY he realised Smith is past it. Something most of us knew last season.

That is why Nicks is a Moron, it's very simple.

He's contracted for 2025, the Suns aren't going to delist him with so many clubs interested.....likely looking for a 2025 pick for him

Zeke Uwland, Beau Addinsall and Jai Murray coming through in 2025. Uwland at this point a very high end pick potentially.

200cm Kalani White (Melb F/S) is in their academy as well and could do a Nick Blakey?
