Would borlase be taking the oppo no 1 forward though?..what about one of butts, murray or worrell? Assuming borlase is in because 1 or 2 of them are injured
Borlaise can only play FB .....Keane IMO can cover FB and Worrell's role ....Keane's speed and agility are strengths

Butts has a propensity to get injured ....so Borlaise is the bandaid

Draper is barely an upgrade on ROB. Probably the most ROB like ruck playing for other teams

Draper's improving ....hasn't played a lot of footy as a junior, and spent the whole summer & early season running laps

His big improvement has been his marking .....his cryptonite, as an ex Soccer player, is trying to do solo runs / efforts, instead of utlizing teammates

he is terrible how cant you see it? have a look at how many goals get kicked on him. dont look at his no marks per game. it's irrelevant. our list management know he is bad. thats why they delisted him last year. and only re rookied cos they had nobody else. they still haven't announced he has been signed so not sure about this two year supposed deal. im hoping thats contingent on keane leaving and if keane stays then borlase leaves.

also you cannot play murray butts borlase in a team. we are going to struggle with borlase butts keane IMO even.

We can't retain everyone, nor should we ......it's a combination of what comes in versus outgoing ....plus returning injured players & players breaking out

If you're not excited about Oscar Ryan, or Edwards .....or you don't think Pedlar & Milera makes us better ....or you don't think continuity will make Thilthorpe, Murray, and Worrell better ....then you need to stand in the pessimist line

That's without adding ANB + ?

Oh and watchout for Toby Murray :)

Just adding 3-4 players into a side, changes the balance and ranking of opposition match-ups ....that's how close the competition is
Agree that there’s improvement in the areas you’ve said

Problem is, a bad coach caps the number of wins you can produce even with talent in spades. Selecting the wrong players, not capitalising on skill development, having a poor gameplan etc

Just think of Port supporters ...they've been head-hunting Hinkley for two years ....then were eating humble pie after their strong finish ....now they can go back to the former

Hinkley has to go, because he oversaw some of the worst trade-in's of ordinary players I've seen .....he pays the price for that

Genuine question, how many goals has he had kicked on him? Compared to the other key defenders we have

... and yet neither are "a forward's bootlace", which is the standard you set.
Why do you double down on your clueless ravings, just makes you look even more clueless.

Borlase is depth, came into the AFL system already a fine physical specimen and in the elite development pathways , Gollant came in off of only a half season with the Calder Cannons in the then NAB League and an absolute stringbean at least 15kg below an AFL playing weight. He has athleticism and hops that Borlase can only dream about.

Borlase was drafted as a KPD, Gollant was drafted as a half back/winger/outside mid but the Crows for some reason have decided he's a full forward. My money would be on Gollant being a better defender than Borlase if the Crows had the foresight and intelligence to utilise his attributes better. One things for almost certain Borlase will never be a first choice Defender, Gollant could be possibly if the club for once tried something different.

Agree on Ryan and Edwards.

Milera and Pedlar are both expensive busts sadly.

Think you might not look back on this post as one of your better ones.

Milera is not really a bust, he's had several serious injuries that have ruined his career and Pedlar whilst not the quite serious injuries of Milera he's certainly had some injury issues with his shoulders and soft tissue issues....this is the 2nd shoulder surgery he's had since joining the Crows.

Milera probably struggles to get back to his best but way too early to write Pedlar off just yet, I'm still backing him in to be a decent player.

The good thing about Pick 4 and Izak moving into the middle is we don’t need to pray Pedlar turns into that elite midfielder. Not writing him off and would be stoked if he still became that, but we have other options now. Pedlar could carve himself a great spot on half forward and our list could be in a decent place.

Oh cmon ....that's a silly comment

Pedlar is that ferocious inside mid .....it's another shocking call, whereby people thought we should keep Rankine as a small fwd

There are a lot of gooses now with egg on their face

ROGUE BONKERS, these are your words to describe our 0-4 start.

Plus you can’t deny there have been other coaching **** ups this year.

What kind of bias? I’m sure we all want us to be good, but the actions of the coach are preventing us from reaching a higher ceiling

Open your eyes. Gollant has been tried as a forward at AFL level. "Not a forward's bootlace" is a perfect description for what he's shown.

I'm not arguing that Borlase is better than Gollant - I'm saying that neither of them is "a forward's bootlace".

At least Borlase is moderately competent as an AFL defender. Gollant isn't competent at AFL level in any position.

Agree with this. Everyone says how wonderful Port are at bringing players in. Really? Watts, Thomas, Fantasia, Zerk-Thatcher, Finlayson, Ratogolea, etc etc. All second rate. Yes, they drafted Rozee and Butters and traded for JHF, but that's it.

Gollant is an almost certain delist if no one is interested in a late pick trade. Borlase may well get an extra year and will be perfectly fine as a back up defender

Always trading for the "missing piece" so took whoever wanted to join them.

They are playing finals again whilst we are wait for it ……….15th

Realistically, the difference between Gollant and Borlase’s prospects are that we probably need a break glass KPD like Borlase (for next year, anyway), while we have more depth in Gollant’s position (Fog/RT/Tex/Welsh/Turray/Burgess? As well as maybe Luko)

No real need for Gollant moving forward
