Vigo might be in a couple of years, if Draper and/or Bryan stick around
Don't need to wait that long, Dodson if we can wangle a pick for him, if not Flynn Penry is there for the taking, had the better of seasoned overager Joe Pike today with some really telling HTA's.

The fact Penry was adjudged the Rebels 3rd best by the Rebels coaches and Joe Pike didn't make the Falcons bests tells the story there.

Is he gettable
We should be trying!

We need to payout Strachan given he is the same age as ROB & get in anther option next year.

Poor list management having 2 ruxkmen the same age.

Had a look at our Key Defenders and maybe we need to keep both Keane & Borlase using stats by AFL in the Crows Website. Also we play 3 each game & 2 back up

lets see ave goals kicked on each of these players.

Mismanagement is too true!

The club has failed to identify and/or develop talent too consistently in recent years. If you look at the final game of the season, the team list was compromised of:

2017: 2 of the 6 picked across the national draft and rookie draft
2018: 2 of the 7 picked .
2019: 2 of 7 picked
2020: 1 player from the 6 picked

That’s 7 from a possible 26 players - who should be moving into their prime…Jones? Sholl? Murphy?

And those in the next youngest cohort - are they convincing anyone yet?

Without trading in talent that the club missed and didn’t develop (Dawson and Rankine), this could be a laughing stock (more than it is)

Then you look at Hawthorn…..Ward, Day, McGuiness, Mackenzie, Weddle, Dear, Newcombe…..

Its time for this club to fire Ogilvie and Godden and commit to properly developing a squad that inspires.

But no, mediocrity awaits (again)

We said that about Fog too.

Cook is AFL quality, he just needs a huge pre season to get his tank to Keays level.
[/QUOTEno guarantee a player can develop a “tank”
Much of it is genetic .Pedlar Rachel and Cook may all be genetically challenged aerobically

If we have the list spots that is, Penry would be very useful but I don’t think we’ll take 3 players in addition to Welsh (assuming we keep a 2nd rounder)

Rate Dodson but I’d be much happier using a lower pick to grab a ruck, whether that be via trade or the draft

When did Sydney rebuild? They've only missed finals 3 times in 20 years

Abusing the hell out of the academy and f/s system better than anyone else since 2014 (when a pick #2 bid for Heeney was matched with just pick 18) let them rebuild without fully bottoming out in any year, managing the unmatched feat of keeping a mid table spot for money and access to top draft talent for squad improvement. Recall we talked big on doing the same, and instead managed to perform the feat of bottoming out year after year while also failing to bring in top draft talent.

The difference between a competent admin and an incompetent one.

There's leg ups then there's Swans ridiculous Academy leg ups, your Sydney comparison is spectacularly stupid.

Lycett was good for them, Ryder, Aliir, sweet, rioli even zerk thatcher has been decent, they all fill roles, no point just mentioning the ones that don’t work, that’s not giving the full story.
Decent? Maybe. But it's not a good strike rate and none have been great. they've bought in a ton of b-graders and only one A-grader - JHF.
We've brought in Dawson, Rankine, Hinge, Keays. That's the last four.
No comparison

theyve brought in a heap of c and d graders and one a-grader (horne). cant think of a single b grader through trade.

Not sure strike rate matters here when we prefer to get our c graders through the draft.
It’s a different way of doing things sure.
So far it’s working better than our way of doing things.

If Keane is staying there’s absolutely no reason to retain Borlase for more than a year at a time.

The Keane saga is weird.

He has a year left on his contract but there's been so much noise about him moving to Collingwood in the media. Then recently there's the long term contract we're offering him being talked about on the front page of afl.com.au.

Why is this getting so much airtime? If the deal is there why hasn't he signed it yet? Why wasn't it just negotiated behind closed doors and signed.

I reckon where there's smoke there's fire.

I think he is open to a trade but is also happy to stay.
I also think we're happy for him to stay but we're also interested in what Collingwood would give up for him.

Pumping up our offer to a 5 year contract and leaking it to the media feels like a bargaining method.

I'm probably miles off and he signs on Monday, but if not something smells.
