We have pick 13 on day 2 (40 overall).

Still on the board:

Shanahan
J Whitlock
Gross
Alger
Moraes
Dodson
Davis
Sims
Ough
Clarke
Mraz
Dolan
O'Farrell
Nicholls
Gerreyn
Barrat
Dennis

B Camporeale
L Camporeale
With the talent left on the board, I’m feeling confident that we’ll dodge a bid on Camporeale before pick 40.

Hopefully we get some luck and one of the highly rated KPPs slide to our pick.

Feeling reasonably confident that there won't be a bid on Ben before our next pick now.

Plenty of talent still on the board which will entice clubs. The Saints appear to be not intetested - would be a strange move to have traded up to then bid when they could just have kept their original picks for the same. Would be a terrible look if they did.

Potentially port with their two picks could but Campo was a Crows coach for some time so there is no natural affinity and it would look a bit petty.

Fingers crossed. Would be a dream outcome with no bid but I'm sure we have some contingency plans in place with our picks coming in regardless.

I really like it

They have Sheezel Wardlaw McKercher Duursma Bergman Phillips Archer Goater George Curtis and now FOS. They have more than enough young talent.

This is added to Larkey LDU Simpkin Zuurhaar Xerri Parker McDonald Logue Comben Scott & Daniel.

The time to start moving up is now. They needed a tall forward to develop next to Larkey and they got their man.

They now have all the pieces to start moving up
Agreed.

They’ve stockpiled some fantastic talent and have a highly credentialed coach (even if he is an insufferable sniping snivelling little pr1ck).

Can someone remind me what we’ve traded to get our 2nd first round pick to have #12 & 14 before trading to WCE for #3.

I’m sure it’s so much better than what North did last night for #27! What a desperate move

I had this weird dream where we managed to somehow move up 10 spots in the draft to pick 3 and when the time came we selected Jagga Smith.

Wait, wait a second, I hear footsteps…

Our 12 & 14 became 16 & 18?

15 and 17 - Berry and Reid. Good players, would have helped address some needs (forward pace and midfield ball user) - though the names that I think more people were hoping for at those picks were already gone (Lindsay and Hotton).

More than happy with how it's played out for us - Jagga is gonna be class, and I think the connection with Lord will go some way towards getting the best out of him too.

Now we play the waiting game and hope nobody drops a bid on Campo before our next pick. I think we'll have at least a couple of talls we like available at that pick if we get to use it.

So did * win day 1 of the trade period? Kako was so highly rated internally that * used their own first round pick on him. Matt Rosa is working miracles.

Watching a bit more of Jagga I can see him playing HB or Wing in 2025. Much like Daicos & Sheezel started off. His run and creativity would really add to us

Will be interesting to see how they fit him in. We've been playing our wings quite wide since recruiting Acres and Hollands, and I'm not sure Jagga will have the role down pat well enough to do that for us early - seems a natural ball hunter, so keeping width and working hard backward to help the defence might expose him a little until he's had a few seasons to adjust.

If he's going to get selected, I wonder if we might use him in the role we had Walsh playing a couple years back - start at half forward and then push up aggressively to add the extra number around stoppages and leave extra space in the forward line for our talls to lead into. I think Smith getting the ball 70m from goal is perfect for us early on, as he's shown he can identify and hit leading forward pretty effectively.

Could play the HB role that Ollie Holland's had at the end of the season.

Certainly would be a good starting point for him. From what I noticed in his highlight videos, Jagga very much spots up a teammate and kicks to their advantage at a mid range. He has very good vision and lowers his eyes.

If we land

Jagga Smith
A KPP at 40
then Ben & Lucas Camporeale

and add two good rookies I will be extremely happy with our trade, draft period. We have really added to our list this year

I can see Jagga and either of the Campo twins pushing for early games. Depth & Fitness is our key to a flag in 2025

I think there is a less than 0% chance of Lucas pushing for senior games early next year.

He only managed one SANFL reserves game this year. There’s too big a jump at his level to expect him to crack into and play senior AFL in a strong side early on.

The recruitment of Jagga, Ben, Lucas and maybe another really puts a premium on spots around wing and HB. It's great. When you have more players fighting for spots the better they become

Binns, Ollie, Wilson, Cincotta and above will be fighting for a couple of spots. Be very interesting to see what happens

Perhaps. I think we're pretty well stocked down back, and we're already likely adding Haynes as well as the reports that JSOS is going to train down back too. That, along with the fact that our forward line hasn't actually been all that settled, makes me think that Smith is more likely to start ahead of the ball than behind it.

I think we'd be more likely to move Hollands into that HB role, and then either play Smith off a wing as Soapy suggested, or move some other magnets (ie. Cottrell or Eli Hollands to the wing and Smith to half forward, or Walsh/Cerra to split a wing and Smith to get more genuine on-ball time).
