Great job by Austin & Co to get #3 and Jagga 👏

So we've effectively traded our F1 for #14. That was a critical and fair trade.
Then we've used #14 and #12 to trade with WCE to get to #3

Now, compare the pair VS what North did last night for #27! What a desperate move

I think there is a less than 0% chance of Lucas pushing for senior games early next year.

He only managed one SANFL reserves game this year. There’s too big a jump at his level to expect him to crack into and play senior AFL in a strong side early on.
Unless it was at our request that saw him not go too far out of his lane?

If we land

Jagga Smith
A KPP at 40
then Ben & Lucas Camporeale

and add two good rookies I will be extremely happy with our trade, draft period. We have really added to our list this year

I can see Jagga and either of the Campo twins pushing for early games. Depth & Fitness is our key to a flag in 2025

I’d be supremely confident Jagga plays round 1 against tigers, they’ll have at least 3 debutants.

My take from night 1 is, clubs are clearly not bidding on players as early as expected.

Could bode well for us tonight and we pick another player before Ben. Some highly rated talls still there too. Not sure Shanahan or J.Whitlock will be there at our pick, but Dennis, O'Farrell, Barrat, Mraz...

Barrat is probably the best kick of that bunch but he prefers to play forward. Dennis is probably the best pure kpd. HOF is more versatile than Dennis, has better closing speed but not as strong 1v1.

If we get really lucky and Ben isn't bid on by pick 55... we might end up with 2 of those...

Lucas looking more and more likely to be taken as a rookie.

James Barrat looks a good type at #40. Doesn’t turn 18 till the weekend, could grow a couple cms.

We’ve been waiting for undersized KPP’s to grow a couple of centimetres since Murray Vance and Trent Sporn.

🤣

It was horrible by them, shows reaction not a planned or measured approach.

If they shopped the future 1st around they could have easily got a decent first & then split that for 2 second rounders or 2nd & 3rd 🤦‍♂️

I wasn't following it last night, but what happened with Essendon & Kako - did they stuff up or they got something out of this trade anyway?
They stuffed it, misread the room and his value, bid came at 13, they could have used 9 for quality player & then matched with junk for 13 😂

* & North thinking they are sharks, when in reality they are just chum 😂

As much as I hate *, this is so overblown (or completely misunderstood).
If they held 9, the bid would have come earlier. No way Melbourne or St Kilda let them hold that pick.

Watching a bit more of Jagga I can see him playing HB or Wing in 2025. Much like Daicos & Sheezel started off. His run and creativity would really add to us
Can also see him playing forward with his skillset, he's so elusive and creative can see him wreaking havoc.
Wherever he plays I'm so glad we have got him, he's a very unique player.

I just realised the pick North traded for Caleb Daniel is only 2 picks after the one they just swapped their F1 for. A tall, probably even the one they just picked would have been available there.

In short, they traded their F1 for Caleb Daniel. 🤣

I don’t think your wrong but my version of events puts a smile on every face in here & it’s plausible 😉

It’s interesting to see how it all played out.
Not that I think it’s a bad move but I didn’t want us to trade up to pick 3 and TBH I’d probably still prefer to have Berry or Allan plus North’s future first then Jagga.
Certainly not upset with what we have done though

They supposedly had their future 1st on the table for every pick from StKilda at pick 8 according to afl.com.au. There were no takers till late on.

I quite like their move. They've backed themselves and their midfield to move up the ladder next year. So if they can finish 12th and the Tigers finish last (very likely) and you take out academy selections etc they will have given up 6 for Whitlock and 19 and a years development of a KPD.

It all depends on how good Whitlock becomes.
