Poor ol' Austin looks sooooo uncomfortable at a presser....he actually admitted on one of the Summer Sessions that he hates public speaking, just prefers to get on with the job.

Love what he's done with our list since he arrived - although next year is going to be interesting given we don't come into the draft until late in the 2nd round as it currently stands.....although the past couple of drafts have shown that there's still plenty of value with late picks.

I think next year will be about FA's and trades. Not getting Houston, bringing in draft picks and have everyone signed (TDK to come) has now put our Salary Cap in a great position. Moving on Kennedy & Owies helped a little bit as well.

We are in the window and have some genuine young talent on the list. Next 2-3 years will be about needs and hopefully we can keep picking up Gold in the mid season and later in drafts

We are in a great spot now. Over to Voss & Innes to make it happen

We need to put our future spine in place, somehow. It's going to get ugly once we we are out of the PW.

If what Austin said re: perhaps taking two rookies today, I’m assuming that DGB will be one of them?

Given we’ve already committed to inviting Durdin/Carroll/DGB as train on, one would need to go per rules.

Of the 4 train on players, the only one I'd be happy to see as a Rookie is McMahon. Durdin, M.Carroll and DGB, VFL at best and work at playing for a mid year spot if one becomes available. I'd rather another young developing player as rookie as now some of the perennially injured are gone.

I'd like to see McMahon get a go. Major question marks over the others

Be intersting to see if Austin goes with 1 or 2 picks today. If he goes with two we will have 4 players fighting for one spot (subject to any injuries)

Using two picks suits me fine if one of them is a KPD, given that's where we'd been looking with the train-ons anyway.

Take one of Malakai Champion or Archer Day-Wicks as a livewire small forward option. A small who can fly for marks is something we've sorely lacked for some time now. We've got some crumbing types, but nobody who sits on heads.

Then I'd lock in McMahon for the second rookie pick. KPP who can play both ends, good coverage and a reward for VFL form.

Keep one spot open through preseason and probably make a call later on DGB (talented third tall option, hasn't clicked yet) vs Carroll (running defender, unlucky through injury in year one).

I think you can only have two players training for each list spot. So if we take two today only two of the four will be training with us

All eyes on our two NGA players

Have to laugh that Dylan Williams and Pommy the YouTube ‘gurus’ who said we definitely wouldn’t take Jagga because we need a point of difference, were completely wrong - yet again.

Beware of content creators.

Yeah beware of those who are willing to study the draft and form and opinion without having the context of what list managers know inside the four walls of 18 clubs.

Pommy had an opinion on Jagga, as did Dylan.

You seemed to be okay with it when you were consuming the content, which mind you, was FREE for you to watch.

I've worked with Pommy for 5+ years now and I can tell you, the work he puts in with the draft is second to none.

Have a think about that next time you hide behind your faceless profile on a forum taking a pot shot.

Go Blues

In fairness - I think the takeaway should be for anyone, whether content creator or forum nuffie - don't purport to "know" something if you don't actually know it. I think this can be a bigger trap for content creators in particular, who might be looking for those headline/title/thumbnail statements to hook people.

As BA said, AFL Youtubers don't have direct access to club recruiters and their opinions. As a viewer, you should be able to translate their comments yourself - if they say "Carlton will not do this" what they mean is "I don't think Carlton will do this and I believe that so strongly I'm prepared to report it as definitive even if it's not".

I used to assume that everyone would have this level of basic critical thinking.
