Yeah beware of those who are willing to study the draft and form and opinion without having the context of what list managers know inside the four walls of 18 clubs.

Pommy had an opinion on Jagga, as did Dylan.

You seemed to be okay with it when you were consuming the content, which mind you, was FREE for you to watch.

I've worked with Pommy for 5+ years now and I can tell you, the work he puts in with the draft is second to none.

Have a think about that next time you hide behind your faceless profile on a forum taking a pot shot.

Go Blues
I agree with most of this but using a pseudo influencers position to state something as categorically not happening always will open you up to pot shots. Especially if you do blend some inside word in and sometimes you don't. Being categorical in Carlton not taking jagga - why ? Just a bad position to take and push so certainly and immediately undermines any work he has put in. Anyone who studied this draft would've known picking a player at the top end was almost no lose and jagga was always a possibility. Always.

In fairness - I think the takeaway should be for anyone, whether content creator or forum nuffie - don't purport to "know" something if you don't actually know it. I think this can be a bigger trap for content creators in particular, who might be looking for those headline/title/thumbnail statements to hook people.

As BA said, AFL Youtubers don't have direct access to club recruiters and their opinions. As a viewer, you should be able to translate their comments yourself - if they say "Carlton will not do this" what they mean is "I don't think Carlton will do this and I believe that so strongly I'm prepared to report it as definitive even if it's not".
This. But if the wordings deliberate to get those headlines you do that at the risk of opening up for 'lol you're wrong Champ' type responses. Such is life

I'd like to see McMahon get a go. Major question marks over the others

Be intersting to see if Austin goes with 1 or 2 picks today. If he goes with two we will have 4 players fighting for one spot (subject to any injuries)
This is against the rules.

You can only have two train on players per one list opening.

Video inside carlton draft rooms, Austin's remarks imply they rates Jagga 1 in the draft. Didn't use those words, but gives that impression.
I found that video very contrived.
Of course we rated Smith at 1 after we knew O’Sullivan would be picked by North.

To be fair - it could also be 100% genuine. All reports were that this year had a very even top 3-5, and I'd be pretty confident that Lalor would have been behind Smith in our rankings and FOS would have been viewed as more of a risk, even if he is potentially the more dynamic prospect. Every chance that if we had Pick 1 we'd still have called out Jagga's name.

But yes, it did seem to be a little "for the camera", even if the sentiment itself was real.

I think you can only have two players training for each list spot. So if we take two today only two of the four will be training with us

Sorry. Poorly worded by me. We currently have 4 with the opportunity. If we get 2 rookies then 2 would drop off straight away. Tough business and a couple of nervous players today

The one I saw had them saying how keen they were on Jagga before Lalor was taken. Hardly contrived.

Edit - just went back and re-watched. Austin clearly states that we have Jagga rated as pick 1 at the start of the night and says it sounds like he is going to get through to pick 3. Did you watch the 5 minute clip on carltonfc.com.au?

Imagine getting this worked up over someone calling out someone else who was demonstrably wrong. It’s why I avoid AFL content creators like the plague.
