Interesting choice, Harrys profile reads pretty well, tied with Hannaford who i rated for the B&F which is solid and increased his output considerably from his bottom age year to his top age year.

I am surprised we went with a defender as i feel we have just locked in a few players who can play that role and have good depth in that area, yet i dont feel we have many options in terms of small forwards.

Ill back in the LM team here but i hope that out of our 4 train on spots we use them to trial a few players we haven’t seen or dont know much about, we know Carrol and Durdin, we dont need to include them in the 4, trial a few small/half forwards.

I still think we go for DGB and McMahon but at least have a look at some smalls.
Possibly another Wilson?
Defender come midfielder?

So does that leave us with 1x list spot and 1x mid season pick ?
seems like there are four players vying for two SSP spots, Denver Grainger-Barras (ex hawks), Matt Carroll (ex carlton rookie), Liam McMahon (former Collingwood, spent this year playing for our reserves) and Sam Durdin (ex carlton)

I hope we give M Carrol a shot. He had something, and injury has not afforded him any opportunity
Nothing wrong with a VFL contract and wait a year or two. Sounds like we still have AFL spots open. We never got a look at Matt which is a shame.

VFL contracts are worth more these days IMO with the mid season draft.

At a qtr of the price?
Well some may laugh, but reality is Houston did start as pick 46 rookie pick or thereabouts, so anything is possible.

Our trading and drafting this year certainly shows faith in Motlop and Durdin.

I agree with that confidence and look forward to both their years injury free and defined positions in the team. Up to them from there.
Agree, although we do have Zac Williams and Fog as well for the small forward role.

Got to say, feel sorry for the kids who dont get drafted who are there or there abouts

Absolutely brutal

Hope they have plans for themselves beyond having a football career
Every kid playing footy hopes it gets to this point and it does for very few.

They haven't invested everything into becoming a professional footballer, they will end up like the rest of us and go down a career path as we all have on here.

Difference is there are very few young guys playing football these days not getting paid, considering the average ones are on fair money they will be on pretty good money. They will end up playing football locally, getting paid very well for it or they will end up in the VFL for another crack at it.

Going down a solid career path and getting a solid weekend payment from footy. Reckon they will be fine.

Or there was no one there we rated outside the picks we needed to use to get Smith, O'Farrell, Camporeale and Camporeale. Our small forwards are really going to need to perform because this is where our next mini-rebuild is coming from IMO.

Well done Austin & Co - we've got to be happy with that draft haul in this off season

Now get down to the oval and start your pre-season :)

Bring on 2025 - we'll bounce back hard!

Id keep M Carroll, tallish, composed, nice distribution and courageous

Hope his body holds up
If he is fit, that would be my preference too

M Carrol and McMahon - make it so Austin!
