I’m really hoping Harry O’Farrell is available and we select himWhat are some of the names likely to be there for our second pick? Haven't looked much outside the top 20 or so.
There is a possibility we will have to use this pick on Ben Camporeale. Hopefully not. What are some of the names likely to be there for our second pick? Haven't looked much outside the top 20 or so.
0 possibility. If a bid comes before 38, we will just trade it out for an F2.There is a possibility we will have to use this pick on Ben Camporeale. Hopefully not.
In order if availableWho would you take at 3?
Would be nice if one of the Whitlock twins was still there at 38 if we don't use it on BC.What are some of the names likely to be there for our second pick? Haven't looked much outside the top 20 or so.
Would there be time to do that on draft night?0 possibility. If a bid comes before 38, we will just trade it out for an F2.
We'll have a few trades lined up with various clubs by draft night. Clubs do this regularly. Likely trade 38 out for a future pick, then after matching Ben trade that future pick out for another pick ~40Would there be time to do that on draft night?
What if the bid was just before ours and we have very limited time to first do a pick trade and then nominate him.
Correct. We'll have several options lined up. I doubt any live trade ever has been out of the blue. I do have a point but you clearly haven't comprehended it for the second, third, maybe even fifth time that I have explained it that I cannot bother explaining it again.
I'm neutral on Jagga. Indifferent. Sounds more like you have a problem with FOS and Lalor which I find more bizarre given they are clearly the best 2 players in the draft.
been touted pick 1 all season so why wouldn't he be in the conversationI mean... there's no talk that we're interested in anyone particular and Jagga is one fo the clear top 4 players in the draft. Why wouldn't we be talking about him?
Hmmm, Im not sure that is right. You would have to do it in advance. For example, if we currently hold pick 38 and a bid comes at 35, we cannot quickly do a live trade in-between deciding to match the bid. So in that example, pick 38 MUST be used to match a bid. Unless you meant we will trade well before a likely bid is to come in (say before pick 30) to ensure we can trade out and back in. But in that scenario we would most likely give up several draft places (ie. the guys at pick 38 range may not still be there at whatever pick we get back... maybe late 40's). So it will be interesting to see if we gamble that no bids come before our pick 38 or take the safety option and try to do a double trade (trade out to a future pick, then trade back into this draft).0 possibility. It would be nice. But I dont think so.^^pretty sure you can still ninja trade the pick out before matching

Is that definitely the case? If so I find it odd that Essendon prematurely traded out of Pick #9 because as it gets closer to the draft it looks like Kako might not go that high and I would have thought if they had the option they would have kept 9 and tried to get the pick in after him? When someone bids we have 5 minutes to decide whether to match. In that time we can trade 38 for an F2. We then match but with no 38 our later picks will be used.
We cab then either keep F2 or use it to trade back in after we've matched the Ben bid with our later picks.

Mick Ablett on SEN yesterday felt he was either a late pick in the draft or possibly even a rookie selection.I’m really hoping Harry O’Farrell is available and we select him
Can draft picks still be traded/swapped ATM ?I still think we might see North move out Pick 2
Tauru is not worth that high a selection I wouldn’t have thought.
Cal Twomey said something similar on gettable a few days ago.Mick Ablett on SEN yesterday felt he was either a late pick in the draft or possibly even a rookie selection.

have we cooled on draperI think the firm reality is that the club would love to end up with any of FOS/Jag/Lalor so we really can’t lose (given we are finals contender).
I know we have Carlton goggles on around here, and I know we have maybe got create in the past. But this is one rule nobody can get around.
If you could, why did Essendon trade out of pick 9 in a super-draft?? Because they were afraid a bit might come on Kako and they knew that pick would be gobbled up!! So they traded out and used that leverage to get the best deal they could and will now use later picks to match the bid.
In short... you must have done the trade PRIOR to matching a bid. Once a bid comes in and you want to match it, you MUST use your next available pick
Spot on. I'm sure there have been examples of this, but coverage of past drafts hasn't been great when it comes to live trades. And there's not a lot in AFL published material that covers this situation. But I did find this:No carlton goggles. I watch the draft every year. You can trade picks at any time. No rule stopping you while considering whether to match a bid.
I'm not sure why the dons did the trade early. I think they should have called the dees bluff. But I think when trading out early picks (which have alot of currency) there are alot more variables and you may not get exactly what you want if you wait until the last moment. So the dons played it safe.
The fact that clubs can make a manoeuvre like this isn’t something that’s been made clear in the AFL’s public announcement of live trading, so I again requested clarification from Patrick Keane. He said:
“If a club can complete a trade in the time before it is required to make its decision, they are allowed to trade. They won’t get any extension of time but they are permitted to do so if they can finalise it.”
Two weeks to go and we’re all up to speed on each player’s strengths and weaknesses, is it time to cull the poll down to who we think the club will take at our 1st pick?
Some good players listed below but can’t see how any of them would be considered at pick 3.
