This article is from 6 years ago.Can someone smart review this and tell me if it affects us live trading our pick once a pre-38 bid comes in for Ben?
AFL to review Sydney's draft trade loophole
The Swans' smart use of live trading on draft night will be reviewed for next year according to the AFL CEO.archive.sen.com.au
Smith was the captain of every team he was in last year. Including the teams he was named alongside Draper.I’d rather Smith too, but the point stands that Draper has leadership.
My understanding is that this manoeuvre will no longer be allowed, but as long as you don't trade in the exact same pick something similar can be done. Please correct me if I am wrong any of you (many) (and much) more knowledgeable posters. Can someone smart review this and tell me if it affects us live trading our pick once a pre-38 bid comes in for Ben?

Yes you can’t trade the same pick back to the same club.My understanding is that this manoeuvre will no longer be allowed, but as long as you don't trade in the exact same pick something similar can be done. Please correct me if I am wrong any of you (many) (and much) more knowledgeable posters.
Thanks for sharing. Will be interesting to see how accurate this is especially what Nth do with pick 2.Responses from Heraldsun Q&A chat that might be relevant to us:
I’ve done another flip
I’ve started with the safety of Smith, then thought FOS ceiling is too high to skip… to now thinking that Draper is a definite on a need basis (assuming injury had been ticked off)
Speed to burn, hardness at contest & defensive mindset - he’s the midfielder that we are missing and would complement our team nicely.
Remember late 2023, we had a great run and our midfield was more balanced with Fogarty in the team. Now we can Draper that can do the same role, but at a few levels higher. A midfielder with both attacking & defensive intent will be so useful to the team from Day1.
Lock it in Austin
It looks like it will be Draper IF FOS is not available at pick 3I’ve done another flip

LalorYeah but who is it gonna be tomorrow...?
Interesting. I think he's the clear best fit.I’m hoping the Draper talk is smoke to try and get anything out of Adelaide. Much prefer any of the other 3.
I still think Jagga is in the picture if FOS is gone.It looks like it will be Draper IF FOS is not available at pick 3
Hope you’re rightI still think Jagga is in the picture if FOS is gone.
They are not.F/S picks are governed by a “gentlemen’s” agreement.
No gentleman's agreement from you, SOS.They are not.
So the media is reporting the Kangas are heavily into Tauru for pick 2, while North supporters are saying there’s no chance they select Tauru and it’s FOS they are selecting with pick 2 ….
Interesting times ahead ….
They're clearly taking Tauru. Where are they discussing it on the North Board? Is it because of a rumour or somehting'?So the media is reporting the Kangas are heavily into Tauru for pick 2, while North supporters are saying there’s no chance they select Tauru and it’s FOS they are selecting with pick 2 ….

This is a but of a misnomer as the draft at that point allowed each team to select one player a year earlier than they would otherwise be eligible. Fev was our underager.
There are gems at #38
They're definitely going to take Tauru if they can. Maybe they think they can select FOS and then wait for Tauru to fall to Pick #7 and beyond and they may trade their 2025 pick into get him. So maybe if they're confident they can pull that off they go for FOS and trade back in. But it seems liek Tauru is their preferred selection. In their draft thread, their ITKs are saying it’s no chance it’s Tauru and FOS is who they are taking.
I personally think they will take Tauru with pick 2 and they will trade their future first to get another pick in this years first round to save face. They should be targeting Armstrong to partner with Larkey
Dees will take Tauru and Armstrong with their 2 picks so I don’t think the Kangas can pull that off hoping he slidesThey're definitely going to take Tauru if they can. I would love love love them to take FOS at Pick #2. Would be a dream scenario for us.
Surely Dees need to begin to prepare for life after Oliver and Trac noting both could be gone next end of next year.Dees will take Tauru and Armstrong with their 2 picks so I don’t think the Kangas can pull that off hoping he slides
