Either Jagga or Draper. I don't think there are going to be too many unhappy blues fans at the end of the day.

One of the reasons I put JS just ahead of SD, is that as an accumulator (JS) they tend to "link" more in transition, which is something our midfield seriously lacks. That player that can be involved 2, 3 or even 4 times in a passage of play. That's why they "accumulate" possessions.
Not saying SD can't or won't do that, but just feel JS to be better at it.
Either way, as I said, I don't think there will be too many of us unhappy after today.

My thoughts exactly.

JAGGA or Draper is a win / win situation

Agree.

I've been on Jagga since day 1. He's the best player in the draft imo. But if we ended up with Sid I would be OK with it. Absolute weapon of a mid. I have him at 3-4 in my rankings.

As long as we don't end up with FOS. I've gone into detail in the past why I don't rate him. But just for context I have him at around 15.

Really starting to think that as much as I want Draper in the team, if it's a choice between Sid and Jagga, I think you just have to pick Jagga.
List build and balance over the next 5 years will be awesome.

Remember also - he was named All-Australian Captain so brings some leadership potential. Always a good thing.

Interesting watching Jagga's start of the year vs his end of the year at Coates League.

Much more direct in the second half of the season and though he missed a lot more targets, he was probably more damaging.
which is why i've been on him. i'd say someone's had a word and he's taken it on board and chjanged to meet the feedback.

being coachable is an incredible skill

The question will always be was it culture, development or talent or bits of both. As someone who saw a lot of it, it's very clear to me
Some of our draft picks were just 'wrong' to begin with while others were simply fortuitous. For instance; virtually everyone would have picked Bryce Gibbs at pick one in 2006 (except for one very canny and vocal supporter who implored us to believe that Selwood was the better player), despite how good Selwood turned out to be.

It's about rationale; development is important but it doesn't really say anything about the selection itself.

Both are outstanding championship of our game, so one should have no issues with the drafting either youngster.
Yeah it was no diss on Jagga, I highly rate Hodge's career and would take anything remotely close to that.

The selection was spot on...

The development was AWFUL...

A couple of problems I see with Jagga Smith…

He’s a Collingwood supporter and his old man was on Collingwoods list when they won the flag in 90…

He played for Richmond’s VFL team…

He’s from Scotch College!

I can overlook all those but there is one more thing I wasn’t aware of until now and that’s he finished year 12 a year ago and has been a full time footballer this year and had a personal trainer too etc. so just wondering how much of m advantage he had over other juniors in the draft? Obviously he will have similar luxuries once he’s on an AFL list - but could others like FOS, Draper and Langford do more once they don’t have school commitments etc?

Could be quite the sight….Jaggas not big framed in any way so could be made to look like a real jockey next to Lance from the well fed paddock

Maybe big Lance can share some dietary advice with young Jagga. Something along the lines of, now don't take any notice

of what the club says about what you should need. Believe me, I have found that mouth-watering hamburgers and plenty

of KFC keep me in ripping nick.
