In fairness to the poster he posts a lot and is clearly desperate to see the club succeed so I think his criticism is genuine. Also the way the club is run and has performed for a sustained period leave them open to constant criticism. We have just never adjusted to how a club needs to be run in the modern era.

Well yes, Kemp missed a shot up one end, and we let one through the other not long after. We could have won but those were 2 glaring errors.
BUT, these overpaid peanuts in the media are only too happy to talk about momentum of a game, and how much it has an impact.
SO, why is it not a factor when they pay morale sapping frees against us for bullshit calls. That Cripps one is just absolutely wrong and that umpire is a disgrace. He couldn't possibly see it, the St. Kilda players back had totally blocked his view, and the ball was disposed of correctly, yet he paid a blind free. He could have just balled it up again if he was unsure, but no, he clearly had a guess. Should not umpire another game.

That was a complete guess and a disgraceful decision - especially when the umpires can't wait to say when the microphones on when they dont pay a free kick, with their perennial get out excuse:

"..... I didn't see it......"

Not enough eyerolls for that one.

One thing I will note is we need to be better at capitalising on momentum. First quarter a few bad misses when the game was fairly even. I believe Acres, Kemp, and little Durds missed pretty easy shots. We started the last quarter with some tough chances but still misses nonetheless. Capitalising on momentum is such a big thing in footy because there’s always multiple momentum swings these days. I think more work with a sports psychologist wouldn’t hurt just to discover some more composure and techniques to look forward to the big moments.

Why not have a smarter strategy after a kick in late in the game.

We lacked height other than Pittonet. Pitto hasn't got great hands to begin with.

So what's the strategy? The same as it always is.

All we needed to do was chip kick it 3 or 4 more times. Give options and spread.

Way too predictable without TDK and Harry. Was always going to be 50/50 whether they got it straight back in there. Such low percentage for late in the game.

Lazy football.

The tale of this season is on whether we learn the lessons of what went wrong. There was a variety of factors (injury, game plan, list management) which came together in a perfect storm to destroy us.

That’s on us. And believe it or not, it’s ok. But only if we learn what went wrong and take proactive steps to fix it.

My main takes out of today:

• the umpiring was disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. The umpiring over the season has been disgusting. It was our turn to cop the rough end of the pineapple today. But it doesn’t make it any easier to handle.
• Moir, Lord, and Binns all look like players. That’s a wing, a third forward, and a faster midfielder sorted out. Three weeks ago most of us would have had all three of those positions as holes on our list.

On to the draft. On to figuring out how to get better strategically. And on to sorting out our high performance area.

chances of this are low imo...theyve identified russell as the issue but there are other issues imo ...coaching MC decisions and list management

How many injuries would you say is the tipping point for the side struggling?

I wouldn’t say mentally week, 12 players out injured would mentally scar anyone though, imo Voss needs to start looking at the list as a whole..a lot of these kids covering for injuries have shown Voss up a bit as a coach… from here on in trust ya list and not the same 25-30 players each week because as this season have shown , you can be stuck with minimal players if you keep playing injured or jiggly players….

If our Match Committee had of had as much faith in our second tier players earlier in the season instead of our propensity to play underdone and perenially fragile players - we probably wouldn't have needed to win the last game of the season just to make finals.

In fairness to Kemp, neither of our big Coleman winners are a sure thing close to goal either. Its a problem that needs addressing across the team. Those 3 early misses were the sign for me. We may well want to win and work ourselves into the ground, but still fail that final hurdle around goals.

Good to see that Lord, Binns, Carroll and Moir were given a go in the last couple of weeks.

There's a few that I don't wanna see in a Carlton jumper again.
Big off season coming up.

I'm kinda relieved to have my weekends back.

We have been in no shape to make a dent in finals for the last 6-7weeks.

Rather re-set earlier for next year.

Only positive of getting in finals would be to get the experience into young blokes. Would love to go into a final with only a couple of changes.
