Let’s analyse the week of results:

• Hawks beat North as expected but that was the bad result for us.
• Cats beat Eagles as expected but that was the bad result for us. They also didn’t go on with the game in the second half and get their percentage above Port meaning that Port don’t have to win to hold 2nd spot and a home final. Thus taking away some of their hunger against Freo.
• Gold Coast beat Tigers as expected but that was the bad result for us. Meant that Saints could afford to win and not drop a spot in the draft order.
• Brisbane beat Essendon as expected but that was the bad result for us. Meant even if we had won we would have had an interstate trip.
• Bulldogs beat GWS and that was a bad result for us. Meant Port didn’t need to win to hold 2nd spot. GWS also had 3 late outs including two small forwards in a game that was played in blustery conditions.
• We lose obviously a bad result. But we lose in Carlton fashion to add to the sting.
• Freo will beat Port as they now have more to play for given the results and they’ll take 8th spot after having knocked off less top 8 teams for the year than us. Port also lose Dixon before the game to take away a key target.

A lot of that was expected but still it’s the absolute perfect storm of bad results for us. It’s such a Carlton thing to happen that you actually sit back and laugh.

Regardless If the saints bad kicking for goal throughout kept us in it, when the team gets in front late, has the momentum and gets in to a position to win the game, whoever it is needs to stand up and unfortunately today, Kemp wasn’t good enough.

In the first we had 3 players take set shots on no angle and less than 30m out, who all failed to finish off the hard work their team mates put it.

I would love to have the no how and time to put a package together of how bad our forward line functions but I don’t, I watch local football sides who’s forwards have better forward nous and structure than we do.

What has happened to forwards leading at the ball carrier, forwards leading in to space to create space behind them, what has happened to smalls hitting the fall of the ball with momentum?

So many times in the last we broke from a stoppage and delivered to the vicinity of kemp, because no one lead, so when we went to kemp, most of the time Moir was in his way.

All year we have lost games despite having more inside 50s because we play dumb football. Regardless of our injuries I think we should have done better and the coaching group needs to do some real work in the offseason.

Far too easy to score against and far too dumb going forward.

This season hurts

Players like Higgins lead better than Charlie and Harry on their best day. We are way too reactive and ball movement inside 50 is ****ing slow. Slow and methodical is not us.

It’s a valid point, you need a list to win a premiership and these players that have come in have done a amazing job, bringing cerra back instead of having faith in the list was a mistake as was not resting guys who were having niggles, playing these up and coming players has been good to see we actually have a list capable, it’s on the coaches as much if not more than the players…..

Cripps is the only player who should be garaunteed a place every time….just like todays loss is on kemp, durdin and anyone else missing goals 15-20 metres out directly in front…. Should have won

I suspect not only are Dow and Stocker smiling, but also Ross Lyon (who at one point might have been our coach rather than Vossy).

No offence but who cares? All three of them are so irrelevant to the success or failure of our club I could not care less what they thought.

Start delisting players TOMORROW morning.

None of the players out there today are getting delisted.

It will be a controlled cull of those lacking durability. Martin, Cuningham, Marchbank and Sam Durdin will go. We will likely take 4 in the draft. We may trade Owies. A youngster may seek a gig elsewhere for game time.

I can see another couple of delistings at most.

Don’t disagree BUT the positive in all this has been Voss has had to play the kids and adjust game style. Both of which have worked and worked well

I hope the coaching staff take a lot of lessons from last two weeks

I've opted to go through denial, anger and depression at once to expediate the process. Bargaining will be over once the Freo game finishes. Acceptance is going to take a whole offseason.

We also seem to be the only side who doesnt score 50/50 opportunities. Throw it on the boot uncontested and miss.. players like Higgins, Hill, Mcreery only need half a step in a contest

I wasn't keeping count, but it was a few.

Whilst we got a lot in the 4th that weren't near goal, they were often against the flow of play allowing us to prevent a score on turnover where St Kilda were torching us.

Kemp lost it for us

Bad call, shit call.

Kemp has played a handful of games in the VFL as a forward option. This was his second game at this level playing as a key forward when he is a third tall option forward. Get Harry and Charlie in there so there isn't as much pressure on him, and watch him explode.

And as an aside, Harry kicked 3 goals 2 in his first two games and Charlie kicked 2 goals 2 in his first two games. Brodie has kicked 5 goals 2 in his first two games as a forward.

I'm not 100% upset about this, there's still something rotten at the club and missing finals might be the catalyst for change.

We simply can't continue to have such a deep injury list, season on season; play the same injured players; and not react in game.

This is partially on Voss, part on the MC, the fitness team, the list management and on the executive for letting it happen 3 seasons in a row.

No, it wasn't only him. It's just the clutch moment that we all thought we were sealing the win. It's a bit like the taunt when South Africa dropped the World Cup. Lots of moments before that contributed but that's the one that is remembered.

I have been consistent on this is all year. I could peg him. He’d do things that amaze you and then go missing for entire games

Last two weeks have proven to be it’s purely fitness and not effort. He has something special

Very true, but if you call it out the so called grown ups just shut you down… umpiring is deciding games and todays was a perfect example, bad calls each way and whistle put away last 3 minutes
