Curtin is on the wing. I had Smith as an inclusion if Milera is injured. If we need more height down back Hinge could swap to HB and Jones to Wing.
My bad.
That'll teach me for have a quick look at work without my glasses. 🤓

Please note, Suns playing Tigers before our game in Round Zero. :drunk:

ADELAIDE CROWS

B:
Brodie Smith, Mark Keane, Max Michalanney

HB: Wayne Milera, Josh Worrell, Chayce Jones

C: Jake Soligo, Jordan Dawson, Mitch Hinge

HF: Ben Keays, Darcy Fogarty, Izak Rankine

F: Josh Rachele, Taylor Walker, Riley Thilthorpe

FOLL: Reilly O’Brien, Rory Laird, Matt Crouch

I/C: Luke Pedlar, Daniel Curtin, Luke Nankervis, Lachlan Murphy, Sam Berry (sub)

Arguably the most intriguing aspect of Adelaide’s selection is how it reshuffles its defence – an area it needs to improve in – without Lions recruit Tom Doedee and Nick Murray, who’ll miss the start of the season while he works his way back from an ACL injury. Top draft pick Daniel Curtin is pushing his case to play Round 1 after impressing over the pre-season, even despite jarring his knee in a setback that’s limited his training loads. The likes of Jordon Butts, Josh Worrell, Mark Keane, Elliott Himmelberg and James Borlase will also push for the same spot. Recruit Chris Burgess will push for senior opportunities, but he’ll be competing with Riley Thilthorpe for the back-up ruck role, for having both players, Darcy Fogarty and Taylor Walker all in the same forward line feels top heavy. And what about Sam Berry? Falling out of favour last year and playing only four AFL games, it shapes as a big year for the out-of-contract midfielder. Matt Crouch revived his career and now figures to again start in a midfield that will look to give more opportunities to the likes of Josh Rachele and Izak Rankine to add more pace. We've left Rory Sloane out as he continues to recover from his nasty eye injury, giving Luke Nankervis an opportunity — but don’t rule out first-round draftee Charlie Edwards, who’s spent time training as a half-forward for the Crows this pre-season. Harry Schoenberg won’t be there for the start of the season as he recovers from a ruptured Achilles.

GOLD COAST SUNS

B:
Charlie Ballard, Sam Collins, Mac Andrew

HB: Connor Budarick, Wil Powell, Joel Jeffrey

C: Brandon Ellis, Touk Miller, Sam Flanders

HF: Nick Holman, Jack Lukosius, Malcolm Rosas

F: Ben Ainsworth, Ben King, Bailey Humphrey

FOLL: Jarrod Witts, Matt Rowell, Noah Anderson

I/C: Sean Lemmens, Alex Sexton, Darcy Macpherson, David Swallow, Brayden Fiorini (sub)

With so much to like across the board, are the Damien Hardwick-led Suns ready to play finals for the first time in club history? They may start the season without two key pieces in attack. Jed Walter’s debut will be put off due to a collarbone injury, while Ben King is in some doubt to start the season due to knee swelling that’s interrupted his pre-season. Of the Suns draftees, Walter was considered the most likely to play Round 1, while midfielder Jake Rogers is also in the mix. Expect Sam Flanders to again play as a full-time midfielder after such a strong finish to the 2023 season. Could he cut into the on-ball time of one of Touk Miller, Matt Rowell or Noah Anderson? Hardwick has already made changes, with Alex Sexton impressing in a new role across half-back, while Darcy Macpherson and Ben Long are being experimented as pressure forwards. Lachie Weller is also missing after suffering an ACL injury last July.

Michalanney "eyeing".

there's always a kid to leave out. You just watch Sloane roll through the interviews a couple of weeks out saying he's feeling better than ever and is 100% right to go and, "will definitely be putting my hand up".
And since we have a tough start, a couple of early losses will see us rush him back in

So Gold Coast get the potential advantage of a warm up before we play them. Hopefully the weather on the afternoon of their game against the Tigers is a hot, humid slog.

Do you reckon Butts plays just being abit closer in height to Ben King?

This is going to be one of the selection dilemmas.

Horses for courses... a fit Butts would be preferable to tackle Ben King.... assuming he is fit to play.

Nah. Disagree. His days of the free pass are over. Nicksy is coaching for his coaching future and he isnt doing anyone any favours that isn't on merit. Sloane is far from best 22.
