Defensive and offensive ? He’s got both sides to his game

Got a feeling he starts as 3rd tall defender but can see him having various roles quite quickly
Reckon he’ll play alongside all of Butts/Keane/Worrell to start off with, a bit like how the Cats have gone with a Kolo/SDK/Henry/Stewart structure at times

Allows Curtin to play loose a lot of the time, intercept where necessary, and provide attack out of the defensive 50

Hopefully pushes up the ground over time, of course

I’d say a lock pending injuries

Just a matter of where he plays , likely 3rd tall defender and allow hinge to be very offensive

Would love to see them swing him into midfield in 2nd half !
Yes, I reckon Curtin will play round 1, fates allowing.
The other two recruits will have to wait a while.

B: Michalanney - Butts - Worrell
HB: Smith - Keane - Milera
C: Hinge - Soligo - Jones
HF: Pedlar - Walker - Rachele
F: Rankine - Fogarty - Thilthorpe
R: O'Brien - Dawson - Laird
I: Keays - Nankervis - Curtin - Edwards
S: McHenry

Deliberately chose versatile players that can shift position based around game flow as required.
Really like McHenry in the sub-role. You can see his energy when he's unleashed on the ground.

I think Crouch has to start in the 22; given his end of season form and a new preseason

Agreed... reckon he will play more than half of the season.

Imo, Edwards will get a go as a HBF or wingman & we should look to manage Smith for games.

If Rory Sloane isn't part of the side Round 1 then I will believe that we are finally ready to attack finals

You watch

Rory will have a massive preseason and the club will release media propaganda talking about how he’s been training the house down and its like having a brand new draftee on the list to chose from..

He’ll be in the 22 from R1 regardless of how he performs in the preseason trials and will play one half decent game in every four which will be enough to allow the coaching staff justification for continuing to pick him.

Its the crom way.

I'll go:

F Josh Rachele, Riley Thilthorpe, Izak Rankine
HF Ben Keays, Taylor Walker, Luke Pedlar
C Chayce Jones, Jordan Dawson, Jake Soligo
HB Brodie Smith, Josh Worrell, Wayne Milera
B Max Michalanney, Mark Keane, Mitch Hinge
1R Reilly O'Brien, Matt Crouch, Rory Laird
INT Brayden Cook, Luke Nankervis, Darcy Fogarty, Daniel Curtin

Notable omissions: Rory Sloane, Lachlan Gollant, Jordon Butts, Lachlan Murphy, Ned McHenry, Lachlan Sholl, Chris Burgess, Sam Berry

Assuming Chayce Jones has recovered from his injury but Schoenberg and Murray out

Am I forgetting another long term injury...? Have a nagging thought that I am.

My team feels a fraction smaller than what we typically go with.

Butts finished the year with a broken foot..

You might be thinking of him?..

Should be right for R1 next year though I think..

Ahh that's right, and Doedee of course

I actually think Butts may struggle to stay ahead of the other talls plus I think we'll go a bit smaller this year and trust our mediums to play tall.

I bloody hope not. Why should he be treated differently from other squad members though? If he was a 1st or 2nd year player putting out what he produces onfield would he be getting picked?
His output would be promising for a first year player

B: Michelanny Keane Worrell
HB: Smith Butts Hinge

C: Soligo Dawson Jones
R: RoB Laird Crouch

HF: Rachele Walker Pedlar
F: Rankine Fogary Thilhorpe

I: Milera Keays Cook Curtin (Sloane)

Its hard to fit Curtin in, just means Hinge may need to rotate on the wing. Would like to see Cook come on, definitely something there if it all clicks. Other candidates might be Berry, Dowling, Nank. Put Sloane as sub but rather him in the 2s.

Based on poster feedback, our preferred starting 22 looks like:
B: Michelanny Keane Worrell
HB: Smith Butts
C: Soligo Dawson Jones
R: Thilthorpe Rachele Rankine Laird Pedlar Hinge Curtin Fogarty Nankervis Edwards Dowling Taylor (or Cook)
HF: Keays
F: Tex
I:
S: McHenry
E: Crouch Cook (or Taylor) Berry Sloane

I'll be happier when Schoenberg is back, because we look a little underdone in the midfield. Do you think Michelanney could be a mid?

Ummm No ROB

Thilthorpe wont ruck by himself. Ive put your mids into spots as thats confusing.

Was more of a pi** take, with unpopular best 22 players omitted and every "could they play midfield?" player included in the midfield.

My actual best 22 would be:
B: Michelanny Butts Curtin
HB: Smith Worrell Milera
I: Keane
No current elite players, but Curtin and Michelanney could get there in the next few years. Smith our only above average player and only for the right now, but Worrell (and Murray) could get there. Looks a bit tall on paper, but the talls are pretty mobile. Butts our only defence orientated player (Michelanney, Curtin and maybe Keane balanced defenders). Worrell might need to develop his defensive skills for team balance. Butts could be squeezed out over time.
Still our weakest third, but some future upside

C: Hinge Dawson Jones
R: ROB Laird Crouch
I: Soligo Rachele
Dawson and Laird both elite and Rachele won't be far off. Crouch made our midfield better when he came in, particularly against the more mature midfields (ie finals contenders). Both he and ROB are rated above average and Soligo and potentially (penny has dropped) Jones be there soon. I've brought Soligo inside, because I love his in-close work and one of he and Jones needs to. Pedlar should also be rotated through here for his inside power. Curtin may do this in bursts in time also, but likely a few years away. Dowling and Edwards might push for selction during the year.
A stronger midfield than people give it credit for, and improving rapidly. A traded in powerful mid needed to top it off. Ruck fine (for now).

HF: Keays Fogarty Pedlar
F: Thilthorpe Tex Rankine
I: Murphy
Tex and Rankine are elite, but the former will be fading as the latter further improves. Fog probably doesn't get much above where he is now (above average), but Thilthorpe might and Pedlar feels like he should get to this level also. Rachele (elite) will spend some time in the forward third, but probably about as much as Pedlar spends in the midfield. For all his detractors, Keays is already above average and more than earns his spot. Could Taylor force his way in?
Our most dominant third, but there might be a bit of a dip as Tex declines, unless TT (or Welsh) start to put it all together. An in form Tex might give us a window for '24/'25 if we can get our defence up a bit.

S: McHenry
You know it makes sense
