I honestly think you should have a crack at him.

The worst is now behind him (personal and injury wise) and seems to want to prove a few doubters wrong.

For the record I dont want him to leave but Adelaide would be a great fit.

I disagree - Oliver seems way high maintenance and has been a key reason why Melbourne has been so disrupted this year, not to mention was one of the key reasons why Petracca was disgruntled with Melbourne FC.

Recruiting Oliver will cost you in salary, will cost you in a trade and will cost you in resources to support his ongoing wellness and wellfare……

It’s high cost and high risk

Interesting that the Cats have targeted both Smith and Oliver who have both had there share of off-field issues

I still maintain port are only using north to drive up Carlton’s bid.
Exactly

Personally, wtf would anyone go from a top 4 club to a cellar dweller?

Weirdly, Carlton makes some sense

Edit: I wonder what the sales pitch to Judd was?

I’d be more excited if it were Danny Daly were targeting from the Lions. Guy is one of the best in the business and has recently been linked to the Eagles job. Comes over as Senior Assistant and then takes the job from Nicks late next season. One can only hope
That would be an excellent get, too

Though wasn’t he approached for a different role at the Eagles, too?

He'd be keeping a close eye on the top job potentially being available soon.
Surely we can attract a senior assistant coach as they are a good chance of being in the top gig by mid season.

Thought I would go back and have another look at Peatling this arvo. Even in his two elite games this year, he did not wow me. Faster, taller version of Berry who can get bit more uncontested ball. I wouldn't be giving up too much... He was often free due to the attention being put into the better known gws mids. Would get a lot more attention at adelaide. Certainly builds depth, questionable that he's best 23 IMO.

I like his speed , good point of difference

Also he was a good centre square player and an ability to win centre clearance and take ball forward from it

Assume they'll be smarter about it than we were with Tippett and Balfours
They already have the relationship, what needs to be watched is what smith has been paid on average by them over the last few years and what it skyrockets to in the coming years.

definitely fast. i just worry that without the opposition hanging off green, kelly etc he doesn't get a clear run at stoppage when he's getting attention. he was free as a bird nobody knew who he was 🤣

Cotton On are a sponsor of Geelong, and Smith is an ambassador of Cotton On

Maybe a large chunk of his salary is a 3rd party deal

Are players being taxed to the hilt with all these 3rd party deals? How are they working around that? Or are they really being paid in real estate?
