So, they are giving up the F1 AND Houston for Luko. Doesn't matter how you spin it, that's how it is happening.
The reason for trading Houston was to get into this years Draft ....that deal doesn't achieve that objective, so Port won't deal on this basis

All I am saying is that there ball movement started to change significantly during the season, and I think there is a direct link to Stewy Dew….

Happy to agree to disagree

In recent years, the losing grand finalist has taken a big step back the following year.

It's impressive that the Lions overcame their start to the year, and there's probably a few factors that helped that.

No, the suggestion was a 3 way trade.

Carlton: Houston for F1
Port: Luko for Houston
GC: F1 (Carlton) for Luko
Powa getting absolutely reamed if they even contemplate that madness. 2 time AA with 2 years on his contract.

No - they are giving up Houston for Luko!

Give up Houston for - F1
Get Luko for the same F1 they just got
Would Port not rather trade their own F1 for Lukosius? Tell Carlton to turn that F1 and whatever else into ~pick 10 so they can draft their Butters replacement a year in advance.

Apparently, we're in for Peatling as well. Reid is really determined to end Murphy's career this off-season.

I don't hate this target mind you. Could be a high-value, low-cost aquisiton to bolster the midfield - especially if we're looking towards moving Laird out of there. Equally, you can never have enough tough and combative types in a lineup. However, it does raise eyebrows in regards to Sam Berry's extension if it goes ahead seeing it's another player who fills similar niches.

Agreed. And the ONLY reason they were contemplating moving Houston out, was to get back into THIS years draft because they don't have a first rounder. Madness if they do this.

I don't hate this target at all, but it certainly raises an eyebrow towards the Sam Berry extension as well, seeing Peatling could fill the same niche in a midfield five.
agree now we should trade berry for peatling

I'm glad it has now been reported by a respected journalist so I can believe Jeffcrowe /s
Lol, yeah fair enough.

Once Jeff Crowe came back really strong on what he heard, I started to think I'd been overly cautious. Jenny really tipped me into being a believer.

Good to see a rumour be solid!

I'm very confused why Jenny can't seem to read what we have explained multiple times now.
I'm even MORE confused that you can't see what you are saying. They need to get something for Houston. They only contemplated moving him on to get back into THIS years draft. If all they get for him is a F1 which they effectively send to GC for Luko, they are basically giving up Houston AND the F1 for Luko. How can you not see that?

Wait, so is the suggestion that we'll get Monty and Stewy Dew, with Dew as the Snr Assistant? (and in which case, will Monty just be a reguiar asst?). Seems like alot of assistant coaches given we (reportedly) aren't letting any go?

I'm a tad confuzzled (not hard to do, mind you)

Where are you getting Monty from?

Houston wants to go. This is not of Ports choosing. They are just trying to change the narrative as they always do.

I think we overreacted in signing Berry, but we also have worries about our contested ball so he's someone that has a role in our squad.

Ken Hinkley on 24th August said:

"He has got a three-year contract with our footy club, loves our footy club," Hinkley told reporters on Friday.

"I'm really comfortable that Dan will play more games for Port."

We were short at least one coach this year, with Rahilly not being replaced.

We're maybe making one Senior Assistant and one Director of Coaching?

Agree.

Port haven't handled the trade well though. They have limited leverage apart from the fact they can refuse any trade. We all know they'd rather draft picks and a new forward. It feels like they're pushing him out.

A better approach and narrative for Port would have been a last minute announcement with talk of a huge contract in $$ and years at Carlton with Port contemplating their options.

Only on here (noting it's been a long held rumour that he's coming here, and is hasn't eve really been busted). Not to say that Montogomery is happening - I would have thought it would need to be either he or Dew (not both), given current coaching appointments (as much as I'd like to stuff vB into a cannon and fire him into the Sun, thereby making way for both)
