40 players are signed for next year and the maximum list size for us is 44. So only 4 free list spots (assuming we cut Drury, Cooper and Laz - who are all unsigned).

If we take River and one of the Werribee boys, we'll only have 2 other spots at the draft. That is really not good considering its strength. Probably best to payout CCJ and Stevo to give us a few more options, even if we don't end up using them.

We haven't cut those guys for a reason.

It may be that we only take a one or two guys from the draft.

KEEP THE TWO!

The job isn’t done yet and the club have told us they have plans to hit this draft.

We have achieved phase one, with Parker, Darling, Daniel, pick 2 and retaining next years first round pick.

No of course it isn't finished. There's time for pick swaps of course in the lead up for the draft and on draft night.

Only kidding will be interesting how we use his skills . He will be a good distributor no doubt . He may take kick ins often too.
 
Caleb played 24 games in season 2016 and finished runner-up in the NAB AFL Rising Star award while also playing a part in the Bulldogs’ drought-breaking premiership. Playing a mix of midfield-forward minutes, Daniel transitioned to a full-time role in defence in 2019 and hasn’t looked back. He enjoyed a career-best season in 2020 to claim the Charles Sutton Medal, earn maiden All-Australian honours, and notch up his 100th senior game.

The campaigner is RU RS, AA, F&B AND Premiership player.. imagine if we took a fringe player with pick 25?.. FMD lol

I was counting the extra spots - hence 44. We started at 46 - 7 delisted - 3 unsigned + 4 traded in = 40

Also, River is definitely worth a rookie spot.
 
If Caleb and others can help us improve non of us will be complaining
 
My take. We buckled. We paid overs in the end. Is that surprising? However I rate Parker. Happy that he is at the club. We overpaid for Daniel. Darling IMO is cooked. Konstanty hopefully will fill a need. But let’s be honest with each other. He is a fringe player as it stands. Anyway the problem now is we only have pick 2 and donuts until the 60s. Splitting pick 2 or trading futures to get back into this draft is on the cards. Personally I wouldn’t have done the Daniel deal for pick 25 and I would’ve wanted the Swans Future 3rd for trading 44. :stern look

Maybe the club preferred that as well but highly likely the Dogs wanted picks this year and that offer was rejected weeks ago. Let it go mate.

Problem is next years draft is considered weaker hence why everyone has traded out of it. Also next years draft is also filled with academy and father and sons so next years pick probably would have been in the 30s. But the clueless Rawlings apologist will defend the trade then whinge about it after just like CCJ trade.

Its imperative to get the balance right. We are dying for someone who can kick a footy. Tick, we now have one. One where Kerch can push up the ground. Now we have 3 good kicks of the footy from defence to inside 50.
 
Paid overs but got what we want/need. Arguing over some slight semantics. The deals not done people would be a lot more upset and both two clubs know we needed to get it done as we desperately need experienced players and having 3 wanting to come in one year doesnt grow on trees. When I was expecting experience play/s to come in I didn't expect 3 premiership players all at once.

Could have been better traded? Sure. Unhappy, a little...but if makes us a better side in 3 years then it could be a good success.

I think Parker will make our midfield players be much better for it when they come to mature age.

3 premiership players into the list and help the core of players coming through and helping some load off Simpkin and Lmac.

I'd like to see Parker rotate with Simpkin fwd pocket.

Save your anxiety until the draft night, and specifically if we don't select Tauru and a KPF, I reckon mate.

Ideally we go with the roos_fanatic08 plan to bring forward the F2 and get a good small forward too.

The other clubs will look at our Future First now and half of them will be thinking it's going to get them 14 to 16 at best after today's result.

North's trading has delivered the jigsaw pieces that were almost completely missing in the age profile by sourcing experienced men who each have been part of premiership teams. I'm very hopeful and am almost certain that we will see so much development happen amongst the young players over the next few months that we'll hardly recognise the team in matches next year.

And I think it's kind of important that the new leaders are from outside - they can be friendly by all means, but they aren't mates who've been mucking around together over the past few years, sharing the pain of losses and licking each other's wounded pride. They will be able to demand improvement and be heard because they've proven themselves under the heat of big-time finals.
