I’m all for this trade with the Roos. We get their #1 pick in the next draft and they get our next 2 first round picks. This is a midfield draft and we need a marquee midfielder. North have an abundance of mids but need key position players. Win win.

Perhaps but there's not much net gain aside from a year's development into that other kid.
Trade periods are now so volatile I've given up speculating but the overwhelming trend is the rich get richer, and we are very middle class same as last year. GC currently hold p20 which l think is more our go for a bunch of points if we can find them. Good spot to find a ruckman perhaps.

Lets not even talk about their Academy , they have 64 boys in the under 18 category and about the same number in every age bracket down to under 13 so you're talking around 384 kids from ages 13-17 plus another 70 plus from north Qld .

Not to even mention how many full time coaches and staff they have , its off the charts

AFL have completely rigged the system so that Gold Coast can be successful and they can attempt to break into the Northern markets. it's all about the $

If we could get it done for 1 and a player, it would be worth it. Or even a first and the free 2nd rounder we got on draft night, it would be worth it. But agreed the two first rounders would be too much.

Isn’t that second rounder Adelaide’s? That and our first wouldn’t be too far off.

It is. And since it was a free pick, we would theoretically not be losing anything if we parted with it in a deal.

We are on record saying we are taking a first rounder to the draft this season.

I cannot see a scenario that next years first and a second rounder get a deal done for a guy - who if he moves after 2025. Probably gives north a compo pick in the top 5 of that draft.

He’s the right age and a very good player who would certainly provide us with a big boost. I’m a bit wary given he hasn’t exactly put north on his back. It’s interesting but I doubt he winds up at st Kilda, Collingwood or similar will come calling, they have some ageing mids and Bailey smith isn’t locked in just yet with Geelong very interested as well.

Could we finally get a Geelong like go home factor player. Rye is just done the highway from us. Offer the campaigner $1.3+ a year x 5. He's a better investment than Hill or Hanners ever was. He'd be perfect for us. He's the mid we've needed for 5 years.

Caldwell has come on massively this season. LDU is much less of a need there now. They really need KP stocks still. They still have Hobbs in development too.

We need to do 2 future firsts or find a way to trade into GCs 2024 first with next years and our 2nd rounder next year or something then.

When the player we need comes available you don't find ways not to get it done. We could legit use 2 firsts and end up with Hunter Clark and Nick Coffield again. Just get the gun now and make it happen.
