Can't even poke fun at Melbourne's weather anymore Adelaide's is just as all over the shop.. Coldest Xmas ever man.
Yeah I've had warmer kisses from the mother in law!!!

Serious question if Marvel Stadium hosted a test match around the same date as the 1st test in Perth, would they have got better crowds?

If it does become a numbers game, would CA ever contemplate moving it to a ground where the crowds would be higher? eg Marvel Stadium, Accor Stadium (otherwise known as the Sydney Olympic Stadium)?
Wouldn't be surprised if years in the future the only guaranteed test WA hosts is during a home Ashes series.

There is not a city in Australia that would get smaller crowds than Perth for a test match.
Get Hobart up and running then strip their test.
Utterly embarrassing cricketing fanbase out west.

Doesn't matter, rates it's arse off because WA hates daylight saving.
All the haters have eyeballs glued.

Ding ding ding.

Perth could have literally zero people come and the Ch 7 execs would force CA to have the Test there.

Let's hope tomorrow the weather doesn't go full Melbourne.

Probably.

The way I see it if both the new Hobart stadium is complete and the Gabba is out of commission due to renovations I see the schedule like this

1st test SCG
2nd test AO
3rd test Perth Stadium
4th test MCG
5th test Hobart.

Get Hobart up and running then strip their test.

Im not sold on the fact that Tasmanias population alone and purists out there would outweight a Perth crowd test.

Crowds in Hobart for the Ashes in 2022:
D1: 9,002
D2: 8,711
D3: 8,088

Blundstone has seen much higher crowds for BBL in that 19.5k capacity stadium. Given the new stadium in Tas will be close to 30k, even if 50% rock up, Perth is still ahead of Tasmania. Im also not too sure how Canberra would do in hosting a test match, id imagine alot of the Sydneysiders would come down given its only a 3 hour drive by car/bus.

I just brought up the idea of multiple test matches in the same city because London has two test matches in the same city during the Ashes eg Lords and The Oval albeit at different venues. And as a cricket fan, it doesnt bother me too much having matches in a multiple city but I wouldnt mind some variety in venue.

And this might be a silly suggestion but Id be an advocate for a 6 test match series between Australia and England , Australia and India.

The 6th test can be a battle of: Hobart v Canberra v Marvel Stadium v Geelong v WACA v Sydney Olympic Stadium

There was a time of 6 match Ashes series as well. After the Ashes finished this season, i must admit the other cricket games (probably bar the Final) didnt live up to the same suspense as that cricket.

No way should we be having a six test Ashes. Hell, they don't even deserve five. When was the last competitive Ashes in Australia?

We don't have competitive series in Australia fullstop.
33 series wins since Taylor retired as captain. 31 have been won with the opposition winning 0 tests.

According to the forecast it looks like play from first ball through to lunch is possible. I'm not in Melbourne though. Is this looking likely?

Weather looks good at the moment. It’s coming in from the NE which isn’t typical and harder to predict (for me anyway). We normally get leftover Adelaide weather.

There’s a big band over the high country at the moment but it may miss us, looks to be heading more towards Wilson’s Prom.
