Hazlewood doesn't get many top order wickets against the better batting sides, his tight so builds pressure but his a minnow basher

Havent done a deep dive into his stats but a test average of 25 and strike rate of 54 overall is pretty elite.

Hasn't played an away series that wasn't england for 7 years Hazlewood.

Uzzie been good yeah. Very solid, heads best is infront of him not behind him. Very inconsistent atm but he will be a gun.

Carey has been horrible with the bat

Carey horrible with the bat, are you serious? Maybe if you're comparing him to Gilchrist but his record would stack up just fine against Haddin, Healy and the rest I'd reckon.

Who are these mythical stars in the shield who should be in the side.

Don’t say Bancroft, he’d have made FA difference.
If your leading run scorer for 2-3 years as an opener doesn't get picked as an opener when the spot becomes available, selection is pointless. Just let Pat grab 10 of his mates and tour with that

Outside that, there really isn't a lot. But why would any young cricketer waste his time in shield when the most dominant batsmen doesn't get picked. May as well go the franchise route...

We'll always have fast bowlers, not worried about them retiring. Bit 5050 on Lyon going, off spin is easily replaced imo but I'd be picking T Sangha and developing him. Aren't alot of batsmen around tbh. McSweeney in, Bancroft was obvious but he'll never get back now. Could be a dire few years coming up soon

It's not the end of the world and it won't save test cricket.
I know it's not the end of the world. Most ppl couldn't give two shits. I literally watched 1 hour of cricket all summer and it was the last hour of this test. Nothing will save test cricket. It'll still exist it will just lose viewers

Rain saved us, only blind people can't see that. Cummins was dog s**t for the last 3 games and could barely take a wicket.
Also ranked number 1 in the world and won the World Test Championship, Khawaja named Test cricketer of the year and how many Australian players in the Test side of the year. Yeah, we aren't that good lol.

I’d say two players just did what two players pretty regularly do, would be a more likely explanation
Nah, 2 players can shake hands have a beer like they've been doing forever.

Don't post it on your insta gagging for more nice guy points after you just lost a test and blew a series.

Yeah sorry but basically every sportsman has one.
He’s the captain of his country and he is a nice guy, he doesn’t have to gag for points. The fact that he IS doing it after they lost and blew the series is further proof of that.

Man I thought I was a bitter sports fan at times.

Disappointing to see all these negative posts on here about the current Australian players. They have had a great 12 months but lets be positive and focus on the wonderful performance by the West Indies in this test and the wonderful performance by a young fast bowler.Interesting also to see England have beaten India in India.

It stacks up to Healy who was an old style keeper.

Carey averaged 24 for the year. Very poor. Yes he has been good behind the stumps but he’s almost at the bottom of keepers at test level at the moment.

Shamar in the post match presser was so lovely. Spoke nothing but praise for his team and particularly Brathwaite. Seems incredibly proud to be playing test cricket for the Windies and specifically answered that he will always play Test cricket over t20 money. And **** he's a funny guy. The whole squad seems so ****ing fun.

Brathwaite was literally pleading for more test matches more often in that same presser.

I can't wait to jealous-hate the Windies again

Yeah sure hope so

Probably will

Yeah I feel sorry for them too. I’m often real sympathetic for teams that draw series with the reigning world champions on their home turf. Sympathy is my main emotion for them.

He’s still here. I’m just trying to come up with some for the Aussies.

Yeah probably second grade maybe? The Aussies are what, thirds? Subbies?

Shemar wouldn’t do that. He has a broken foot.

Yeah would have been better if we just played some youngsters and blooded some other guys. We rattled you too easily.

Oh you meant the Aussies.

dont Australian kids learn to hit the straight red pink one?

Looks like the Aussies have picked Miss Green, Miss Head, Miss Carey, Miss Hazlewood. I thought it was the men’s team but it reads more like the staff roster at a school.
Very cool man, you don’t have better things to do with your time then fill the thread with crap one liners “no, you”

Pretty cringe

They're all pretty respectful & humble in their interviews which is awesome. A great cricketing culture.

One thing with the proliferation with t20 cricket is we might see more specialist red ball players due to guys not being selected for t20 cricket/white ball cricket. I really hope we end the non-sense of a 2 test series.

Windies highlighted the importance of good fielding. You can be a lesser team but if your fielding is at a good level then it allows you to capitalise on chances to win against good teams. Catches win matches.

He obviously batted wretchedly but Brathwaite captained beautifully I thought compared to last summer.

He actually looked from the outset like a captain who legitimately came here to win not to compete - I know that’s at odds with his ultra cautious batting approach but in the past he’s rung his bowling changes ‘by the numbers’ and gone ultra defensive in the field, he’s used himself as a bowling option and often protected younger bowlers.
He’s started sessions with defensive options. He’s had 2-3 slips at times when he’s needed to attack.

There was none of that throughout this series. He captained like a leader who felt he had a strong team at his disposal and that must have made his young players feel so confident
