Did it stop?
Yes, it stopped and they still called it off due to the amount of rain.

Did it stop?
Was never raining after that point though, could have at least had an hour of play. No way it takes an hour to clean up either, half hour max.
Would Australia be in the box seat to qualify?True hard days work from the openers! Plus if it rains every day rest of the series India can’t qualify for the WTC haha
1998/1999 I think. We were well on top and the rain saved England. Wasn't just rain either it absolutely pelted down almost tropical storm levels. Got a bit dangerous from memory.I don't remember the year, but there was a Brisbane ashes test where Australia needed just 4 wickets to win and the Poms had to somehow eek out a draw on the last day, but no play eventuated due to it pouring.
Yeah, can't see the umpires being pressured on something like that, tbh.A minimum of 15 overs is required to prevent fans being eligible for a full refund on tickets
I wonder if that why the inevitable call for stumps was made so late as they were hoping they could just get a couple of overs in
Maybe my memory is playing tricks but I can barely remember it raining in Brisbane when the Gabba got the first test in November.
They'll be lucky to get that for the entire test..with a minimum of 98 overs to be bowled.
And even then 40% of the playing time you’re sitting in the sheds watching two teammates bat…The umpires and players seem to want to play as little as possible these days and stuff the spectators and the broadcasters.
In this series so far these two teams have only played about 6 days out of 11 test days total going into Day 2 of the third test.
Nice work if you can get it, not many other jobs would you get 5 days off on full pay, especially the sort of pay they are getting.
Its luck of the draw really, just got unlucky this year with rain falling on the test daysWhich brainiac decided to move this match from the beginning of the series to December?
There isn't one single group at fault here. Perth was desperate to keep a test each summer (which is wasn't guaranteed for some reason), the best and potentially only way was to host the first test of each summer despite the shitty time of year for most people and their young families still working and at school.Which brainiac decided to move this match from the beginning of the series to December?
Peter Sellers is something like my third cousin three times removed. He was handsome, a comic genius, and slept with countless beautiful women - some things run in the familyPeter Sellers The Party on GEM
Maybe my memory is playing tricks but I can barely remember it raining in Brisbane when the Gabba got the first test in November.
The legend himself. It was an absolute travesty when his YouTube channel got taken down. Wouldn’t be surprised if rob has an account on here actually
Its not absolute world class but it's far from a dump.Because the ground is a dump that is unfit for professional cricketers in 2024 and should be torn down. It is now the 5th choice ground for cricket in Australia.
Sunny right now. But they said a shower around lunchtime, so who knows…Who will win?
The rain.
This test will be washed out going by the Brisbane weather forecast.
10:50am AEDT, so 9:50am for the localsWhat time is play meant to get underway?
Funnily enough, 'underway' just autocorrected to 'underwater'.
Would Australia be in the box seat to qualify?
On the commentary yesterday it was mentioned Australia will sew up their spot with 2 wins out of the remaining 3 against IndiaSouth Africa would more than likely qualify they likely do regardless then one of Aus/SL
They'll be lucky to get that for the entire test
