100% this but there's just no timing, power or finesse. Guess survival is number one priority right now but he's a shell of the batsman he once was

Survival definitely all that is on his mind right now. You’d think after 90 balls he’d be a little more comfortable but he’s done his job so far.

Maybe once he feels truly in we’ll see some more shots like the one earlier in the over. Thought he had his timing back in those Pakistan ODIs and then he found ways to get himself out. Batting a long time might be the best thing for him but he doesn’t have me feeling overly confident

just hope he doesn't go cheaply now after doing all the hard work

Doesn’t Sundar have a test average near 50 with the bat? Fairly sure it’s around that anyway.

Was their best bowler in the last test vs Nz too

Only because 4 of his 12 innings have been not outs. He’s never hit a hundred. He can obviously bat but he doesn’t have near the pedigree Jadeja does, who has 4 hundreds and 21 50s in 113 test innings.

Fair, did think the safe choice was Sundar off the last test but you had 3 options there was always going to be 2 unlucky blokes.

Think he has batted below Jadeja when they’ve played together

He was hitting it crisp at the G.
Than just hits it straight to a fielder and the collapse began.
Thought he was set for a huge score that day.

It was lineball so a fairly dubious call i thought.

Spin bowlers should have their foot behind the line. It’s a lot easier for them than for the quicks to keep behind the line and not give the umpire the opportunity to call it.

Sorry Phat but the not out excuse for a high average is the worst reasoning ever.
You don’t go out of course your average is good, that’s the whole point.
