Sounds like you are struggling. 360 runs and 7 wicks in a day so far and you are unhappy. Maybe the limited over stuff is your go more mate.
Oh and the WTC table measures wins and losses. Point of Test cricket is to win, not to be reckless and cowboy.

I’m not unhappy.

I tried to answer a post about why commentators would be talking about declarations and give a logistical reason as to why Australia would do it

It was greeted with responses of ‘but Australia can then lose the game/Australia can afford to draw the match’ etc etc.

What I then pointed out was more or less an allusion to the fact that Australia built itself on ALWAYS playing to try and win. It may not have the tools those past teams did, but that’s what those previous sides did and every fan loved them for it. Risking losing to try and win etc. going for the throat and so forth.

Now something seems to have shifted and the team that actually plays with that mindset, even though it bites them in the arse a bit - because they DONT have the Warne/mcgrath/gilchrist/ponting/waugh superstar line up - gets roasted for it.

I have no problem with good old fashioned test cricket and I don’t need to see teams score at a particular rate etc to enjoy it. I am partial to aggressive captaincy however

lol who is hating the scoring rate?

Again, just to clarify, the discussion you’ve weighed into, is about the commentary team discussing a declaration.
So declare like in test one of the Ashes on basically day one and lose?

Head is the most dynamic game changer in world cricket atm .
He most likely will finish with an average a fair way below his actually impact to the team and game .

Top order still a real worry .
Khawaja - 38 was never quick on his feet but slower now . Good if he gets back of length to swivel hook/pull or real full on the drive . Otherwise struggling .

Mcsweeney - feel for him . Solid player but just doesn't look up to the level . Bumrah is a tough audition but it's test cricket.

Labs innings last game masked his issues . If he keeps playing he will make his 50 odd every 3-4th dig . Not convinced it's only form . I think he has been worked out by test level bowling

T20 is just awful. Can stomach ODI's but T20 is trash

We've got some youngsters in our cricket going crowd so I usually end up at one or two a year. They're a lot better live, they're pretty meh on tele.

I couldn’t care less one way or the other but Australia has to win the series to win the trophy back - just like England had to. You gamble as a captain and weigh up risk vs reward. Reality is Australia probably have enough runs - and had enough at 350 - that they couldn’t lose, given the time lost from the game. The longer you bat, the less ‘ways’ to win, you have available. It may work out perfectly, scoreboard pressure does strange things to batting sides when they get their turn.

With the potential for more time being lost, I would have no issue if they declared at 320-350 and backed themselves to knock over a few bats. At best it’s a 4 day test, 350 is a big score.

I don't mind the format so much (the over exposure of it doesn't help). It's blokes playing for any old state and no Victorian Bushrangers ensure I never give a f!ck about our comp.
