If india survive today, reckon a target of 300 will be safe on the final day?

One of those where it could look achievable and maybe compel them to be aggresive in their shot selection. That could give us an opening to grab few top order wickets.

Shit run sport. Stops raining 30 seconds after umpires waddle off, nup, mandatory 10 minutes to restart.

Unless it was heavy...the rain that is, the umpired could of waited a few more moments. If it's a passing shower then they could of played on. As long as conditions etc are not unreasonable. Thats the key word.

As a former umpire, if it was to rain during a game then rain all day. The "on and off rain" is annoying.

Wouldn’t do it at 1-1 could easily go 2-1 down with Jaiswal/Pant there

300 from 96 overs being a bowler down and marsh lame as a duck? yeh na

On tv throughout the test it's looked like sudden heavy rain, so I can understand why the ground staff were eager to get onto the ground.

Yep, India's batting is soo fragile. Damage needs to be done within the first 30 overs but who knows how many overs are left in this game with all the rain forecast.

It's not up to the ground staff. It's up to the umpires when play is stopped for ground/weather/light.

The ground staff follow the lead of the umpires.

Following on from my post above, please see below part of Law 2 - The Umpires:

so wet or slippery as to deprive the bowler of a reasonable foothold, the fielders of the power of free movement, or the batter of the ability to play their strokes or to run between the wickets, then these conditions shall be regarded as so bad that it would be dangerous and unreasonable for play to take place.

2.8 Suspension of play in dangerous or unreasonable circumstances

2.8.1
All references to ground include the pitch. See Law 6.1 (Area of pitch).

2.8.2 The Umpires shall immediately suspend play, or not allow play to start or to recommence, if either umpire considers that the conditions of ground, weather or light, or any other circumstances are either dangerous or unreasonable.

2.8.3 When there is a suspension of play it is the responsibility of the umpires to monitor conditions. They shall make inspections as often as appropriate, unaccompanied by any players or officials. Immediately the umpires together agree that the conditions are no longer dangerous or unreasonable they shall call upon the players to resume play.
