Bad luck fellas tough loss, really feel like this is a break year for Macgrath former number 1 draft pick isn't providing enough has no real weapons is a bit vanilla trade for some value while you can. Cant pin loss on Parish still a gun and a number 5 pick.

Something totally off topic, when it is a channel 7 game the audio will be down, who is that new flog who tells channel 7 he sounds good? It was a ESS home game and it’s all about port granted at the end they won but gee, you would think it was their home game!

Is it Parish’s fault for not having enough composure? Is it the umpire missing the hold and the push on Wright? Is it Weideman’s fault for missing that kick on goal? Is it the dangerous bump that wasn’t paid to Zerk? Is it Hobbs’ fault for hesitating in the middle? Is it the lack of adaptability in our ruck strategy when it rains? Is it the diving on a clothesline effort that conned a free? Is it the clangery disposal in Q1?

And on the other hand, can we celebrate Langford’s speccy, getting the game back in Q1 red time instead of coughing it up, Weideman finally getting a run in the ruck like he was supposed to when we recruited him (and a couple of clearances to boot), Caldwell’s couple of ripper goals, Stringer regaining some form in front of the big sticks, Perkins starting to breakout, Merrett and Heppell combining on that back flank, Zerk’s consistent 11 out of 10 defensive efforts, Guelfi’s one percenters…

Amazing how differently a game is viewed on the basis of whether someone’s hand touched that ball a whole inch sooner.

Developmentally that was a good game for us. Had every opportunity to be Essington and somehow didn’t.

Thats what I'm hanging on to right now. Well that & my bourbon & dry.:'(
A Clare valley Muscat for me tonight. Quite tasty.

Win would have been amazing after wrenching the lead back. Was unlucky.
Houston was the last guy you wanted with that ball. Anyone else misses that.

Hobbs, Caldwell and Merrett were impressive in the middle tonight.
Parish I thought did a role when the rain came and it became a game of attrition

Durham is very clean and agile when it comes to changing direction

Langford excellent

Flip did a lot of good work all night. 5th or 8th, 8th or 5th....it's about other things this year

Interesting note is Martin has been well beaten two weeks in a row. First form patch to work through of his career.

Martin didnt get beaten last week. He just used it poorly. He had 26, a goal and an assist.

75% of that game was still full blown essington

That was just a total tragedy.

We should have been much further ahead at 3qtr time.

Parish couldn’t hit a barn door. Can’t finish in front of goal. Will only ever be A minus at best.

Lots of Weid bashing. Missed goal very bad. But take a breath, his second half was full of much, much better contests.

We didn’t get thumped by 10 goals in the last quarter, we only lost to a kick after the final siren. To the second best team. The sky isn’t falling.

Martin didnt get beaten last week. He just used it poorly. He had 26, a goal and an assist.
Direct opponent henry was much more influential. Got well beaten defensively and head to head.

I dunno I genuinely feel like our players will grow from this unlike other close losses we've had over the years. They could've rolled over and died in the 4th but fought back to give us a chance. Merrett is the captain we've been crying out for. We're going places, just need better players in a few positions (Weids one...)

Huh?

Great effort.

Ridley, merret, Hobbs.
Positive is we can at least bank on effort every week.

Players genuinely believe and want to win each week.

We still have off weeks but at least always a few positives as opposed to the trainwrecks and dark abyss of previous years.
