Our embarrassing reigning World Test and ODI champion team that is well poised to make another World Test Championship final?

Is that the embarrassing team you're talking about?

Yes.

As they say, you can build a thousand bridges but if you make love to just one goat, they don't call you a bridge builder.

Celebrate just one drawn series and I call you embarrassing.

There are few things harder to do than to face Scott Boland at the G in the third session in the Boxing Day test.
Facing him in session 1 day 3 after he has taken 2 wickets the night before?

Who did Smith have for most of his peak? Warner and? Marnus came along right towards the tail end of his peak.

Smith really was batting during a really weak era for Australia batting.
Khawaja would be the other mainstay but no one outside of that

Our fast bowling has always been quality and will trouble any side, the concern was regain in form of Smith and Labuschagne which they are doing against a quality bowler in Bumrah and finding an opener to replace Warner and Khawaja. Carey has greatly improved as batsmen-keeper and Green was trending upwards as a batsmen before his injury, I can't see Lyon going on longer but we do a replacement in Murphy.
Lyon isn't going anywhere any time soon...He's stated he wants to have one final crack at a series victory over in India & England in 2027

You're a very grim person
You complain the wicket is a road (it's not) then state it's a "cripple fight" between a not strong India and Australia and now whining about the game itself

Why do you even bother watching if it gives you such disappointment

I find it hard to believe many batsmen even Lara had a ‘peak’ like Smith.

The Oval 2013 - The Oval 2019, I’d consider Smith’s peak. 6353 runs at 73.02 over 6 years is insane.

As for not going huge. Today’s knock is an example of why this didn’t happen much. How many times did Smith get to 100 batting with the tail and forced to hit as many runs as possible before the tail fell.

Steve Waugh had a hell if a run for about 4-5 years. No idea what he averaged over that period but he was ranked number 1 batsman in the world and Tendulkar and Lara were in their prime at the time.

Interesting thing I found on reddit once, using a ‘Bradman Metric’ to look at players peaks.

There is a S.Waugh entry at 19th that probably covers that period. Innings 84-163

One of our top 4 scored 140 and almost carried his bat, the top 4 made 330 between them, the tail did the best they could and they still weren’t able to crack 500, because we currently have a walking wicket in Marsh playing as a number 6 batsman, who cant last more than 15 minutes at the crease before exposing the tail.

There may be issues further up the order but at least they are contributing every now and then, rather than failing every innings.
At the time I posted no one had scored past 60.. you’ve made my point. Not everyone gets runs each inning so the guys that get a start cannot just throw their wicket away

I actually never argued that this particular wicket is a road. I was responding to someone making a general point with my own general point. You just lack reading comprehension.

Agree 💯

What really grates is that Indian cricket is corrupt AF but always cries victimhood…it’s pure gaslighting
This exactly. This is a culture that has created the global epicentre for scam call centres. If they can get away with it they’re as corrupt as f*** and if they get busted then it’s all indignant blaming and finger pointing.
