It's been a brilliant series . People I know who have shown minimal interest in cricket are talking about it and watching it again
It's great for the game especially with a home ashes here next year
Couldn’t agree more with this. I’ve got mates who aren’t normally massive cricket fans and all we are doing now n the group chat is talking cricket. Love it!

So you’ve never had a first impression of someone? Oh wait you just did it to me, after reading my post. Perhaps you shouldn’t complain about people when you do exactly the same thing your complaining about.

If Konstas played for another team he would agree with you. Dont take it personally.

Just how I feel, I’ve already had enough of the antics of Konstas, smart arse and arrogant and not a lot else to back it up at the moment.
He’s played a half decent T20 innings in a test match that if it was anyone else they would’ve been abused for but the NSW cricket media are making sure he’s god like. Change everything he’s done and make it Glenn Maxwell, the abuse would be non stop.

Anyway he’s going to need to do a lot to turn me around on him. Calming the Marnus level of chat on the field and the Warner level of flogness. For me I’d rather a player who lets their bat do their talking.
Agree to some extent. However in some of those situations he’s been totally blameless, eg: the Kohli bumping incident. I just worry he’s putting a lot of pressure and a target on his back with his demonstrative and out there behaviour.

Konstas really needs to establish himself in the team first before engaging in some of the theatrics he’s got involved in. If he has a string of failures, which is possible, given his questionable test match batting technique, then he’s going to have egg on his face, and he’ll really cop it, both on and off field.

However he’s only 19, and I’m prepared to cut him a little slack. Hopefully some wiser heads have a word in his ear and get him to rein it in a bit. Having said that I hope he makes 100 today.

I’m a fan of Sam and what he brings to the game.
That said, he really shouldn’t have got involved with Ussie’s time wasting antics. That was between Bumrah and Ussie.
Get some runs on the board before you do that sort of thing.
Sammy now has a massive target on his back, so he would want to score some runs today.

Totally agree. Simply looking at Bumrah and shaking his head before turning his way would have sufficed.
We can’t expect a 19 yr old to have life experience of a 35 yr old.

I’ve played with guys who feed off of this type of behaviour (not saying it’s right or wrong). Anyone know if he has acted this way in the past?

I’m very slow I’ve just got it. Omg I’m dumb.
It’s ok to say how much you like a player and personality on BF but you can’t not like they way they go about the game, ok got it. It’s the same as footy season. You can be positive about your club and players but criticism means you’re a hater and not a true supporter. Fine but I’m not joining the cult.

I thought so too, looked like he belonged. Was trusted to bowl a lot more than our other all rounders in recent memory.

Looking forward to seeing him bat, and also in time bowl spin.
Spot on mate. Cant wait to see some of his offies. I couldnt find any footage of his spinners online sadly, albeit a very short search

I wish I could express myself this well but I’m not that eloquent. This is exactly what I’m saying but I said it more boorish.

There are posters here who I find the most learned who watch shield games. They've said he doesnt bat like this.

I read somewhere he was originally an offspinner then developed the medium pace during covid. So likely need to go back pre covid to find the spin footage.

There has been far too much discussion about Konstas and not enough about Slug.
He was mature and level headed bowled tight lines and did his job, holding down an end and building pressure. I’m pumped to see him bat…. Hopefully not till late today or tomorrow.

I've seen him bat live twice ( the one game ) , no he wasn't like what he has shown at Test level .

I know a few people who have crossed paths with him and I would say their impression of him again is very different to what people are seeing .

I think we need to keep in mind his selection was a tactical move to unsettle Bumrah . He may simple be playing that over the top now

If that’s the case then it’s a testament to his versatility and ability to adapt to changing situations. Bumrah is unquestionably India’s most threatening bowler and if Konstas is able to flip the script and unsettle him by batting in a way which Bumrah is not used to, then forcing a change in Bumrah’s game could well benefit the rest of the Aussie batsmen. Not saying that is what will eventuate, but it give Konstas unpredictability and shows that he’s prepared to alter his game for the betterment of the team. That said, if he strings out a few low innings then the tactic would change. Anyway, good to see.

On this pitch a 100 run partnership is too much to expect. But a couple of 50+ run partnerships should just about secure the trophy for Australia.
