You make a reasonable point. If we want someone to play that way then get Maxwell who has done it for a decade and has honed the approach.
Well it’s slightly different considering he wouldn’t open but Maxy was always shit canned by posters here about playing test cricket due to the shots he plays.

It’s got to be demoralising for any shield cricketer who opens the batting and has put in years of hard work to get overlooked by McSweeney who isn’t an opener or having Konstas get out with mindless slots.

Or has he seen teammates get bogged down by Bumrah and he decided that attack was the best form of defence rather than being a sitting duck

I don't mind seeing him going after the bad balls and putting some pressure back on the bowlers, but think he needs to learn to pick the time to go and the time reign it in a little

He was on top of the bowling, they had started to spread the field for him, he'd already scored 4 off the over and just didn't need to play that shot - hopefully he'll learn a lot from these 4 innings and watching the approach of others
Honestly I don't mind the crazy shots to Bumrah even if he does get out - everyone has been dominated by him this series and he's the only one to have rattled him. It's not necessary for the other bowlers though.

Stop using the excuse he’s 19, he’s playing test cricket for his country, the elite level. You’d expect players at that level to know what they are doing if not don’t pick them so young.
It's not an excuse. It's a fact. He's at the beginning of his career. Can't expect him to be the complete player in his first test..

Plenty of experienced players still make mistakes.

You can only learn with more experience & hopefully from your mistakes too.

Well it ****n seems to be for him. You saying he’s a good leader
I have no idea if he is or not, having never met him. But it seems a weird line of argument to suggest good leaders can't be nice.

Konstas learnt a valuable lesson today because he has thrown away the chance to get a good score relatively easily. He needs to fail at the level to learn the lessons. When he gets the balance right he will be an absolute superstar, needs to be be afforded failures at the level in order to get better.
More importantly, boomers in here want him dropped for who exactly? I'll take a clearly prodigious talent who's got a fair bit to learn over another 30 something year old noodler who goes out after 15 overs making 10 runs.

If we had another Pucovski or someone to come in id say fair enough, but right now Konstas is part of the future and he'll learn a boat load around this team while the legends are still there.

It is a shame about Bumrah, like Vaughan says.

BUT I'd say it adds to the narrative of the series. He had to bowl so many overs and pretty much carry the Indian team. There was always a big chance of this happening, and it's arguably a fitting end.

I'll die on the hill arguing Sam's 22 off 17 is better than say 30 off 100 in this situation.

He demoralized the Indians.
They're flat as tacks, even after his wicke

Konstas is the reason this joke of a pitch map exists:

Just needed the maturity to realise he'd done the hard part, he'd rattled them and spread the field. Could have cashed in big time.

**** me righto mate. Let’s forget my totally insensitive and poorly worded analysis of Ussie. Kumbaya
That's all I've ever asked. 🤗

Now - how might you reword the post for the next time?

Apparently, there is has been lot of animosity in the Indian dressing room this series.

Ravi Ashwin's Dad says he was pushed out and had no option but to retire! Gave a big serve to Kohli, who he claims is a toxic influence in the dressing room.

Does not surprise me in the least.
Nope, no surprises whatsoever.

Honestly I don't mind the crazy shots to Bumrah even if he does get out - everyone has been dominated by him this series and he's the only one to have rattled him. It's not necessary for the other bowlers though.

I read the stat yesterday naming the players to have scored 50+ runs against Bumrah this series:
  • Head
  • Konstas

That's a fair effort from the youngster considering that was achieved in only 3 innings
