What's his running like?

How quick would he be over 20 metres and 2km?
I could probably take him with an 18m head start... maybe.

Depends how many naps are allowed in the 2km.

Welcome aboard George.

Looks like my uncle was right.

From the earliest viewing of draft prospect vids it was George who stood out the most to me.

Bloody rapt to have him ripping shit apart in the royal blue and white henceforth.

You won't find a more impressive stoppage from a junior. He cleared so much space off of a ground ball that he probably could have run all the way for a goal, instead he hits an impressive pinpoint pass to a leading forward.

I think due to his contested work people undersell his athleticism. The popular comparison I see is Clayton Oliver, and on this board I see a lot of talk that he is our next Cunnington. I think both comparisons undersell his best attribute, which is that he'll be the quickest inside midfielder in the AFL in his prime.

Check out the clip at 1:31. If I didn't know any better I would have accused Giantroo of speeding up the footage. It's one of the rare clips where Wardlaw hits top speed and it's ridiculous. How many clearance mids in the AFL are hitting that speed that he reaches on the follow up handball? It's prime Dangerfield type of speed. Like Jason Home-Fransick, he also uses his acceleration and speed to get a lot of tackles. He can close in on somebody like nobody else.

I've stated this opinion a few times, but if he was healthy this year then he would be considered one of the best prospects of all time easily. Instead, we only got to see him dominate in the rain, have a couple of quieter games in his return from COVID, and then do some freakish stuff against men in what was probably the only game that he was able to play uninhibited all year. A whole year of getting to see him move like he did against Collingwood and against kids his age would have easily cemented him as one of the better prospects ever.

I don't buy into the accumulation issues at all. He had excuse after excuse for his NAB League form and still equalled the numbers set by guys like Andrew Brayshaw, Clayton Oliver, and Davies-Uniacke. He is without exaggeration a few cms off being the perfect player.

George, Jy and Will people ripping oppo to shreds. Just think of it.

How does George’s natural fitness base compare to JHF?

Will we see him play a role early in 2023?
Considering he can already finish VFL games well, I'd say he's above him.

Average endurance, maybe even slightly below average.

Runs about a 7 min 2km which is similar to Tsatas. Way below Sheezel in that regard.

His 20m times are good, his 5/10m splits are rapid.

I’ve said previously that he has the same vertical as Nic Nat.

He’s an elite power athlete at this stage, with a Matt Rowell intensity around the contest to match the power.
