You're welcome. We've done our bit to overinflate Baker's value and get you a good return, now do us a solid with Bolton and accept 10 and 18.

Best we'd do is probably 10 11 18 for Bolton and 14.

We're happy to hold onto Bolton too. It's up to you to pay overs, and we might trade out 14 to move up the board.

Who here is actually confident that the player we pick (around #16-18) is going to be as good or better than Baker?

Would you rather have Baker or the guys below from the last decade?

Brown 17 (OK so far)
Dow 21 (bust)
RCD 20 (bust)
Higgins 17 (OK but requested trade, bust)
Rioli 15 (good)
Ellis 12 (bust)

Not saying we didn't get a good deal, just not confident we can/will capitalise on it.

WCE on the other hand have 5 years service from a good player in a rebuild phase.

So it's not as uneven as some may think.

Jesus in what world is Ellis a bust?

Simulate the probability over 10 years of drafts and add in this being a super draft, you know it's going to be way better. If we have 7-8 picks in the top 20 we will most likely nail max 5 of them in a draft like this. So maybe not with the pick but in principle with the haul we have, and the age profile of what is traded out, we are slaughtering the competition.

Now GC don't care because they have too many picks and need the top up.

Agree in that you'd think if we have 8 of the top 25 or so we should get 3-5 good players.

Any decent list management would result in at least half of them working out.

In isolation though, there is absolutely no guarantee that we'll get a 200+ gamer like Baker is sure to be.

It’s also unlikely that 10 and 11 give a player as good as Bolton. He’s in the top handful of the leagues most damaging players.

only counter there is this years draft is supposed to be particularly good ....

So I keep hearing, but generally only history proves that or otherwise IMO.

They say some drafts are shallow but there's always gems deep in the draft.

Then they say some drafts are deeper but you still see plenty of busts.

Always need a solid 10 years hindsight haha.

One of the toughest Tigers I’ve ever seen. Bled for us weekly. Threw himself into every contest. Comes as a rookie selection not drafted because he was too small and leaves as a forever Richmond man. We’ve been very well compensated but still have sadness that I won’t see him bounce right back up from a massive hit from the punt road end again. Love ya Bakes
