He was a flog. Club and players wanted him gone. Take what you can get and move on.

The worst trades we have done in recent times is J McMahon for a pick that became D Ward and C Yarran. Wallet was responsible for Jordy and Dan Richardson for Yarran I think.

Yarran is easily the worst of the lot.

McMahon will always have the let off from being the guy that secured Dusty for us. Scully and Trengove were locks for P1-2 that year from all reports.

Without wanting to go over old ground I can reassure you that at least Sydney and Richmond ranked Dusty above one or both of Scully and Trengove. I get your point though.

Seems like we (the fans) have characterised both Bolton and Baker as fabric of the club type of players. With Baker seemingly having been unhappy in Melbourne at least for a while and with both not thanking the club publicly maybe neither guy really bought into the club.

Thinking about when they were drafted, we picked Shai in 2016 and won a flag the next year. We picked Baker 2017 in the Rookie draft so both guys weren't ever really ever part of the bad times like Cotch, Riewoldt, Martin and a few others. They must have seen a glimpse of what is on the horizon and didn't want to play out their careers in Melbourne. No hard feelings or anything but it's probably a good thing that we clear the decks, remove any remaining Dimma loyalists and guys who don't want to be here and get 100% buy in from whoever remains.

Should just say to Dimma "Take Shorty next year and just **** off. No one else is coming. Twat!"

Higgins showed more than just "promise". He was excellent as a small fwd. He was a bit of a unit anyhow, Had brain injury, and was played just OK on his return. 10 games in 2020 but dropped for the finals like Chol & Aarts. . I caught a few at Metricon. He was gutsy. Copped big collisions. I think he was p*ed off at being dropped and wanted to get to his beloved saints.

He was always going to the saints. He could have been the happiest campaigner in the world at Richmond and he was still going to the saints

I thought it was a dog move.

He played about 43 games out of 70 odd possible games, then take into consideration his calf strains and brain surgery.

He got a good run at RFC for a draftee in a dynasty team.

And we got rorted on the trade because we are a nice club.

That's effectively what we traded him for.

Anyway I'm glad he's with the Aints but IMO we should have demanded more in the trade.
