(152 points was actually the game total, but it wasn't even remotely what I was aiming for, imagine I never said it).

Did you watch Fremantle last week? Would you call their style negative? How about their demolition of North? Or of West Coast? Were they negative?
I was at the game last week and Freo played the entire match with a 7 man backline and set up a rolling maul at every opportunity. I'd say that's pretty negative.

Stephen Hill 12 possessions, I know that Freo have had a tough schedule etc. but that is a very disappointing return from a player who doesn't have enough impact for mine...

I used to be good at maths. What was 132 about?

To answer your questions: Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. It's like Collingwood/West Coast under Malthouse: stifle the opposition and hurt them on the counter. Clog up their forward line and leave space to run into when you go forward.

Fall for it? Its just my opinion dude.

St Kilda made two Grand finals and lost them due to the bounce of the ball. Freo came to the MCG and beat the reigning premiers and raging favourites and Lyon's coaching had a lot to do with it.

Very good coach.

that st kilda didn't win a flag was due to their stifling game plan imo. they had so much attacking flair with dal santo, montagna, hayes et al... malthouse showed what a great coach he was. he played to his cattles strength - in west coast he had great defenders in jakovich, mcintosh, worsfold, mckenna so we were a defensive team. at collingwood he had pendles, swan, thomas, cloke (when he was playing well :p) and he went with an attacking game style.

lyon just go ultra defensive regardless.

to me it doesn't matter anyway, i like him coaching opposition teams.

Yeah, they'll be much better as Pav, Sandi, McPharlin and co move deeper into their 30s.

Well duh. However I Think Freo's going to be aggresive with free agency over the next couple years mate. Way they went after Lyon suggests to me a big change over there, and they are going after it.

I don't see that as negative, though. Perhaps because it's the kind of style I would want to employ if I were a coach - one focused on counter-attack. I find it appealing (not to the eye, necessarily, but for the result). I don't think any of those games were bad to watch, which is what 'negative' implies. There were some pretty ugly contests earlier in the season from Fremantle, but once they got a handle on both elements of the plan they've been pretty good to watch.

See that Scott brothers? Lyon's interview is how a coach should handle themselves.

We'll have to agree to disagree. I find it hateful.

They're not going to get anyone as good as Pav, Sandi or McPharlin. Duh indeed.

If Freo really are a better side than Adelaide, how is it that Adelaide beat Freo three times this year? How is it that Adelaide are in a preliminary final, and Freo aren't?

To you and others questioning my post, we weren't a better side than Adelaide earlier in the year, but the improvement has been rapid towards the end. If we played on a neutral ground with equal rest/travel, we would win.

You only won because it was on your home soil and we had back to back travel, and you deserved that advantage for being better over the year as a whole. Good luck next week, you'll need it.

If you couldn't see how spent our players were from midway through the 2nd quarter, then you are blind.

Adelaide are clearly the better side beat freo 3 times this year, Good luck next week :thumbsu:

Adelaide will need more than good luck. I'm just glad that they did win a final.

A fair effort from Freo, they were beaten by the travel and the six day break in the end. After they got rid of their goal-kicking yips, Adelaide were good enough to take advantage of those factors and come back from 29 points down.

At least there is plenty to learn from in that game. We started really well but the travel in the last two weeks has been intense and then our structures completely fell apart. we need another star midfielder
