Three things.
1. Centre breaks a shocking performance, murdered in the middle, 2. tackling weak as p**s, couldn't stick a tackle , lucky it was only North.
3. Why won't players when defending, cut the corner and run straight at an opponent with the ball, why are we forever corralling opponents, basketball style. but the tackling was weak boys, weak .
We won but in bad form. I can see why we are a year off still,.
Next year I'm looking towards.
This year in the last two games I'd like to see some massacering of opponents , the killer instinct back.
The third quarter scared me poopless!

C'mon Hawks.

If you don't think that was a mark to Brown you might want to visit OPSM. That's a mark in any era of football.

Don't defend a poor decision by playing the "she's a brave female card". No she stuffed up.

No she didn't it was not a mark , marks are when you catch the ball clean and have total control , but over the last few years, any thing goes , like the rules and the perception factor from umps. You either catch it or you don't. Think what you like , that umpire had more guts than the males, they won't pay anything in forward fifties unless its blatant. Tough luck. Great third quarter but you lost. Both our clubs will be looking to next year, I happen to think that we will develop beautifully, you guys haven't a clue!

Thanks for your clueless comments. Only someone with NFI would think that wasn't a mark.

Well done on winning a game that had no importance whatsoever.

Possibly the biggest playing surface in the league, although a lot of that is the width its still far from a short ground.
Really? Have played that a couple of times, it felt really small compared to other grounds I have played on.

Don't know the name of the female umpire but agree with others she is wo wo woeful. Once again the AFL has it wrong. But hey this BS will continue................01/04/2038...Men today got their game back. All women who have roles in the AFL have been executed. The son of Pablo Escobar a big fan of AFL put out a hit and this was carried out at dawn this morning. It is believed the death of Caroline Wilson was the catalyst for this purge that had steadily infiltrated and destroyed our great game since the early 2000s All women who advised they would concentrate on Womens/Transgender football were spared but banned from any association with the Men's game. It may take a decade to get this game back to where it should be but men remain hopeful.

I have a hero named Leigh Mathews who sometimes needs to be reminded of marks etc, trying to make the grab that Sicily took, that was punched clean out of his hands by a Kangaroo, when Sicily had TOTAL control of the ball!
It was a real mark.
Where as the mark by Brown in the first quarter that Leigh made his comment on about, after Sicily MARKED and BT had bulldusted on about it. Browns was not a mark .
He fell from sky high, only just holding onto it with no control , and it freely bounced out of his hands. That was not a mark Leigh!

Now that lady umpire may just have been saying , "well mate you actually have to catch the thing these days" ! Yes????

Too many dodgy and touched marks being paid and thrown around these days , there is no half measure in control, there is only you've caught the bloody thing, or you've dropped it on the ground, if its that ITS NOT A MARK.

Last night one of Kennedys (WCE) marks was touched by about 2 opponents before it was called a mark, he goaled , what is touched??
I saw it called this week and I haven't seen a touched ball IN PACK MARKING CALLED for ages , only its touched off the boot, called by an umpire. .

Skill going downward folks.

And its time our game started calling what is real and what isn't, and what is too fast too quick to adjudicate
"oh I'll call it a mark" no you won't if , ITS NOT!

Sound pedantic , LOOK AT THE BLOODY RULES THAT COST GAMES AND SCORES NOW!

So congratulations to the lady umpire, plenty of guts to call a dropped ball! So many chickens in the male fraternity of umpiring , the ones who won't call anything inside a teams 50 m arc?

A more garbage post I haven't seen.

Ben Brown took a mark. He had control from the second he grabbed it in the air

His form isn't bad just can't finish.

His form is pretty bad. Gives away silly frees, doesn't tackle much, doesn't get much footy and butchers the gift wrapped chances he gets.

Beyond lucky with that skill set to be playing games of AFL.

No maybe he didn't.
But if you look at Gary Abblett Snr 's mark near the posts, long ago, I guess you could say the spectacle needs keeping, so call the thing a mark. I just believe some stuff now is paid when it shouldn't be. But I like your big forward, and maybe the umpires have to start calling things for what they are.
But we cannot lose that leaping player ever,
So I 've watched the mark a few times since arguing about it.

I surrender to you, it was a mark.

The two sides who’ve made Tasmania their own in recent seasons clashed at York Park in Launceston. Not a great deal was at stake with both sides no chance of playing finals. The Hawks skipped away to an early lead and it was a lead they never surrendered, always looking in control to secure a comfortable five goal win. Isaac Smith had a fine game for the Hawks with 29 possessions, 11 marks and 2 goals. Hawthorn had a number of solid contributors, however, I think Smith was the pick of them and thus earns three votes. Jack Gunston is the recipient of two votes for his 27 touches and 11 marks whilst the soon to be retired Luke Hodge I think might receive a sympathy vote from the umpires for his 29 disposal, 9 mark effort. But Tom Mitchell, James Sicily and Luke Breust could all conceivably command a share of the votes in this game.

3: Smith, 2: Gunston, 1: Hodge

I still fail to see how the word comfortable can be used when talking about this game. I thought Hawks stopped dead in the third , or were out gunned for that quarter, it was quite disappointing for me to watch.
Even though they never got headed. I'd bet there'd be some words spoken when the football dept reviews the match.
I realise we are in the process of introducing new players, so a lapse like that, can be expected, went to sleep I'd put it that way.
Hawthorn need to get back to 4 quarters, North are not that hot at the moment , if our last quarter was like the third... well???????

50 points up, slept for a bit and then finished off.

It was a comfortable win.

Always seemed at arms length away and in control despite the margin which in this day and age can change quickly.
